Estuary Transit District provides public transportation to Middlesex County in Connecticut under the River Valley Transit name. We provide nearly 400,000 trips annually to jobs, medical appointments, school and shopping, connecting residents to our community.

Position Overview
Full-time Bus Operators are responsible for the operation of Estuary Transit District (ETD)'s various vehicles and for the safe and orderly transportation of passengers to and from their destinations. Work includes completion of daily inspection of vehicle, fueling, interior and exterior cleaning of vehicle, maintaining accurate trip records, assisting passengers as required, receiving and accounting for fares, radio communications, and any other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Qualifications and Skills
Requirements
  • Must posses a valid Connecticut Driver's License with all required endorsements including an F endorsement
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years driving experience, with a good driving record for the preceding two (2) years.
  • Must be able to perform all duties associated with operating a vehicle and be physically able to lift 60 lbs.
  • Ability to learn, to interpret, and to apply District's policies and work independently without immediate and constant supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all coworkers and the general public and to use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical performed by ETD's physician.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol screening.
