Maumee River Roofing is a growing residential and commercial roofing company headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Currently generating approximately $6.5M in annual revenue, the company has an ambitious vision to scale to $15M over the next three years while maintaining profitability, accountability, and its people-first culture.

This role represents a unique opportunity to help build the operational foundation that will support the next stage of growth. Reporting directly to Owner Sam Schwartz, the General Manager will become the operational leader of the business, allowing the owner to transition into a more strategic, relationship-focused role while ensuring the day-to-day operation continues to execute at a high level.

Position Responsibilities:

This role includes:

  • Own the day-to-day operations of the business across residential, commercial, office, marketing, sales, and production functions
  • Lead and develop five direct reports while driving accountability through measurable KPIs
  • Build scalable operational systems, SOPs, documentation, and training processes
  • Improve operational efficiency while maintaining strong profitability
  • Coach leaders through performance conversations and ongoing development
  • Create alignment across departments to improve communication and execution
  • Partner closely with the owner on strategic initiatives and future expansion opportunities
  • Help prepare the business for growth into additional geographic markets

Qualifications

  • 5+ years leading operations within construction, trades, field services, or a similar operational business
  • Proven experience managing teams of 10+ employees while holding leaders accountable to measurable KPIs
  • Demonstrated success building scalable operational systems rather than simply maintaining existing processes
  • Comfortable making independent decisions and leading difficult conversations when necessary
  • Experience scaling a business while maintaining culture and profitability
  • Confident providing constructive feedback and challenging leadership when appropriate
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Roofing, construction, restoration, or related trades experience
  • Experience scaling companies from approximately $5M to $15M+
  • Commercial construction experience
  • Experience leading multi-location operations
  • Existing industry or vendor relationships
  • Experience implementing SOPs, operational playbooks, and training systems
