What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Rive Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Rive Designer, you need a solid understanding of animation principles, motion design, and proficiency in design tools, often supported by a background in graphic design or animation. Familiarity with Rive’s animation editor, vector graphics tools, and knowledge of integrating animations with code (such as Flutter or React) are typically required. Creativity, strong attention to detail, and effective communication help designers create engaging, interactive experiences and collaborate well with developers and product teams. These skills ensure the creation of high-quality, performant animations that enhance user interfaces and overall user experience.

What are some common challenges faced by Rive Designers when collaborating with developers and product teams?

Rive Designers often encounter challenges when ensuring their interactive animations integrate seamlessly with product development workflows. One common hurdle is aligning animation specifications with technical constraints, such as file size, platform compatibility, and performance requirements. Effective communication and early collaboration with developers are crucial for troubleshooting potential issues and iterating on animations that meet both design vision and technical feasibility. Additionally, clearly documenting animation behaviors and expected user interactions can help streamline the handoff process, reducing the need for multiple revisions.

What is a Rive Designer?

A Rive Designer is a professional who specializes in creating interactive animations and motion graphics using Rive, a real-time animation tool. They design and animate vector graphics that can be used in apps, games, websites, and other digital products. Their work often involves collaborating with developers and UI/UX teams to bring user interfaces and digital experiences to life through engaging animations. Rive Designers need a strong understanding of animation principles, vector design, and how to optimize assets for interactive environments.

Our design team owns: visual identity and brand expression; product design and UI/UX; user research; motion; content and storytelling; and design systems and scalable tooling.
We work collaboratively, hold weekly workshops, and open our process to the rest of the company. This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a brand-and shape a rapidly growing company's identity from the inside out. If you want to build a brand with soul, not just make assets-this is your opportunity.
What you'll do
  • Own and evolve Privy's visual brand across every touchpoint-this is yours to define and push forward.
  • Design and produce marketing and brand assets across channels-social graphics, launch visuals, decks, one-pagers, print, and event signage.
  • Work with Go-to-Market to create high-impact demos, prototypes, and storytelling that translate complex wallet infrastructure into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Collaborate with product designers to infuse brand into product UI (empty states, onboarding, motion, data viz).
  • Lead creative for the website-from visual concepts to final production.
  • Evolve and maintain the visual identity-refining systems, expanding components, and ensuring consistency while pushing into new territory.
  • Build lightweight templates and systems to scale content creation and reduce ad-hoc work.
Who you are
Minimum requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in brand, marketing, or visual design roles.
  • A portfolio full of storytelling-campaigns, visuals, motion, site work-showing depth in visual systems and brand expression.
  • Exceptional visual and typographic skills; you care deeply about craft.
  • Ability to work autonomously from concept → execution → refinement.
  • Experience creating assets for marketing: landing pages, social graphics, email visuals, decks, event collateral.
  • Comfortable collaborating with product designers and marketers.
  • Ability to experiment and explore-strong visual point of view, high taste level, and a willingness to push beyond conventional solutions.
  • Figma-first, with additional experience using Framer.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with motion (After Effects, Rive, Lottie).
  • Background in fintech, developer tooling, or crypto.
  • Experience with design systems or brand architecture.
  • Ability to think strategically about brand voice and messaging-not just visual polish.
  • Comfortable shipping lots of work quickly.
  • A strong preference for sentence case over Title Case.
