Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Lead Cook at Norris Academy in Andersonville, TN
Are you ready to make an IMPACT from day one? Nestled just outside the Great Smoky Mountains, around 30 miles North of Knoxville, in a small, quaint, beautiful town, called Andersonville, sits Norris Academy, a residential treatment facility that offers comprehensive, holistic services to youth with autism spectrum disorders, and/or other neurodevelopmental diagnosis.
Compensation Range: $23 per hour.

What you will do: A day in the life of a Lead Cook at Norris Academy is rarely the same, HARD WORK, EXCITING, IMPACTFUL, and very REWARDING. As a cook at Norris Academy, you will be preparing nutritious, balanced meals and snacks for our residents and staff. This is a 100% onsite position. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Lead and supervisor kitchen staff
  • Manage inventory
  • Place supply orders
  • Shop at Walmart, Sam's Club and other stores for specialty items
  • Preparing meals, and then grilling, frying, or baking it, adjusting to dietary needs for 3 meals per day plus snack for 60-100 people in a residential cafeteria 365 days a year.
  • Serving meals and maintaining food safety
  • Cleaning workspaces, utensils, & dishes, and sanitizing
  • Enforce facility rules, policies, and routines

To be considered you should:
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a clean driving record and show proof of vehicle insurance
  • Be able to pass a background screening, drug test, and physical
  • Have a passion to work with and help children
