Role Overview

Candidates local to NYC are preferred that can go into the office. We are seeking an experienced Manager, Model Risk Management to support a large global bank's Risk Technology organization. This role will focus on model governance, model inventory oversight, independent model validation, ongoing performance monitoring, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Model Risk Management frameworks and regulatory expectations, with the ability to influence stakeholders across Risk, Technology, Compliance, and Business teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and oversee the enterprise model inventory, including model classification, ownership, lifecycle management, and governance compliance.
  • Lead oversight of independent model validation activities, ensuring models are appropriately tested, challenged, documented, and approved prior to implementation.
  • Monitor model performance, validation findings, and control issues, driving remediation efforts through timely resolution and escalation where appropriate.
  • Assess and oversee third‑party and vendor‑provided models, including review of vendor methodologies, documentation, assumptions, controls, and validation evidence.
  • Support model risk tiering activities and risk‑based governance decisions, ensuring controls are commensurate with model complexity, materiality, and risk exposure.
  • Partner with model owners, validators, risk managers, and business stakeholders to strengthen model governance and maintain compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce clear and concise governance documentation, reporting, and presentations for senior management, risk committees, audit, and regulatory review.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in Model Risk Management, Model Governance, Model Validation, Quantitative Risk, or Enterprise Risk Management within banking or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of Model Risk Management regulatory guidance, including SR11‑7, SR26‑2, and related supervisory expectations.
  • Hands‑on experience with model inventory management, model governance, validation oversight, performance monitoring, and model risk assessments.
  • Experience reviewing and challenging model documentation, validation reports, remediation plans, and vendor model submissions.
  • Strong understanding of model lifecycle governance and risk‑based control frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders across multiple functional areas.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a large global banking institution.
  • Exposure to regulatory exams, Internal Audit, or enterprise risk governance functions.
  • Experience overseeing third‑party or vendor model governance programs.
  • Background supporting risk, finance, treasury, AML, market risk, credit risk, or operational risk models.
