Job description

2nd Shift Monday through Friday 1:45pm-10:00pm

Starting Rate $20.50/hr plus shift differential

Clean, climate controlled environment

Job Purpose

To use your talents, experience, skills, education and enthusiasm to ensure efficient operation, preventative maintenance, cleaning, inspecting, repair and storage of all tooling.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Support, promote and implement the safety initiatives within the plant to meet the safety mission and culture defined by Ring Container Technologies.

  • Follow all Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) rules as required.
  • Use shop and plant tools in a safe manner to avoid injury or harm to self or other employees.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on all chemical and greases used for tooling.
  • Participate on Safety Committee, as required.
  • Submit Ring Internal Safety Card (RISC) observations to identify safety concerns and promote safety awareness.

Support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of food safety, food defense, and quality systems to ensure compliance with third-party food safety standard guidelines.

  • Ensure tooling components are properly working before returning to production machines to produce bottles that meet or exceed Ring Container Technologies quality expectations.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement or Root Cause Analysis meetings, as required.
  • Report all quality, food safety, GMP and food defense issues to management immediately.

Promote and participate in good housekeeping habits to ensure plant appearance exceeds management and customer expectations.

  • Ensure tooling and tooling storage area is in clean 'showroom condition' at all times.
  • Establish and maintain 6S practices in the tooling storage area.

Maintain tooling condition, performance and maintenance to meet or exceed company Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) expectations and customer quality expectations.

  • Develop, review and perform preventative maintenance on tooling as outlined in CMMS.
  • Evaluate tooling checklist and comments prior to performing preventative maintenance to identify the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Continually evaluate tooling for improvement opportunities or conditional repair.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support tooling inspections, repairs and replacements.
  • Communicate problems, progress reports and continuous improvement ideas to management.
  • Prepare and stage tooling for changeovers.
  • Perform additional PM tasks as instructed or outlined by management.

Support and participate in SMED initiatives to continually improve machine availability.

  • Participate in OEE and maintenance meetings, as required.
  • Communicate with production and maintenance personnel to understand and identify improvement opportunities.

Develop and maintain employee training program centered on tooling maintenance.

  • Coordinate and conduct training with Process and Production Manager as necessary.
  • Review and recommend training topics for improved employee knowledge and understanding.

May perform duties and responsibilities of Production Operator as needed or required.

This is a general job description, and each plant will have additional duties and responsibilities that will be added by the Plant Manager.

Experience, Educational and Technical Qualifications

Our Tooling PM Technician must be a self-motivated individual with a sense of urgency, accountability, business ethics, professionalism and the desire and focus to improve the business. The candidate must possess the ability to work well under pressure and be able to communicate/coordinate numerous activities. The candidate must be active in self-development, including but not limited to seeking training and development opportunities to advance the tooling program and personal development within the company. Our Tooling PM Technician must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
