Job description

Courier Health is on a mission to solve one of the biggest and most meaningful opportunities in healthcare: reinvent how people living with chronic and rare diseases are supported.
We are building the future of patient engagement for life sciences companies. Our software is leveraged by biopharma companies to support patients in their complex journey from diagnosis to initiating and remaining on therapy to achieve optimal health outcomes.
Infra Eng
Courier Health is a New York City-based technology company on a mission to improve the patient experience for hundreds of millions of people living with a chronic condition or rare disease. The company develops and delivers the fastest-growing patient experience solution for the life sciences industry.
Companies that choose Courier Health are achieving double-digit improvements to patient starts, time-to-start and ongoing adherence to life-altering therapies. As host of the invite-only Patient Innovators Summit and publisher of The State of Patient-Centricity in Biopharma report, Courier Health is backed by leading investors, including Oak HC/FT, Norwest and Work-Bench.
Come Build with Us
We're a NYC-based team that believes culture, craft, and customer obsession go hand in hand. We show up for each other the same way we show up for the people we serve. We're an office-first company that values in-person collaboration 4 days per week because we believe the best work happens when you can collaborate and brainstorm together in the same room. If that sounds like your kind of place, we think you'll love it here.
The Opportunity
Courier Health is at an inflection point. We exist to get patients faster, better access to life-saving therapies, and every one of those patients depends on infrastructure that is reliable, secure, and ready to scale. The platform our engineers build on determines how quickly we can ship for our customers and how quickly patients feel it. This role owns that.
You'll design, deploy, and evolve our serverless-first AWS platform (Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, AppSync, and Aurora) along with the multi-account architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and guardrails that let every engineer move fast and ship with confidence. It's a rare combination: deep technical ownership at an early-stage company, in a domain where the stakes are real. If you're motivated by the opportunity to have an outsized impact on not just your company, but the healthcare industry at large, this is the role.
What You'll Build
A serverless platform that scales with our growth. Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, AppSync, and Aurora are the core of what you'll operate and evolve. You'll keep it fast, reliable, and secure as our customer base and data volumes grow and provide the architectural guidance that helps teams build systems worthy of it.
Guardrails that make the right thing the easy thing. You'll own our AWS multi-account architecture: account hierarchy, Service Control Policies, and IAM Identity Center. You'll build and maintain the CI/CD pipelines and broader developer platform that make compliant-by-default the path of least resistance for every engineer on the team.
Observability and security we can stake the mission on. We work in healthcare so system health isn't optional. You'll implement and manage the monitoring and alerting that keep us ahead of problems, and proactively identify and address security vulnerabilities and infrastructure risk with an automation-first mindset that scales hardening without slowing delivery.
The engineering operations that make the whole team faster. You'll continuously improve our day-to-day engineering operations, select and deploy the tools that keep our roadmap on track, build the integrations that bridge our backend services with our infrastructure layer, and establish the infrastructure standards that will scale with the company while collaborating across teams to unblock technical challenges wherever they show up.
What Makes You Successful
  • 3-5 years of experience with public cloud infrastructure
  • Deep expertise in AWS, including hands-on experience with serverless architectures (Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge) and container orchestration (EKS)
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with AWS Organizations, multi-account governance, and IAM Identity Center
  • Proven ability to design, deploy, and monitor cloud infrastructure at scale
  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language
  • You debate technical decisions constructively and advocate for the right solutions
  • You work independently and take ownership without waiting to be asked while supporting engineers across multiple teams
  • Motivated by our mission to improve healthcare through technology
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience

Bonus points if you have:
  • TypeScript proficiency
  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure or LLM-powered systems
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD tools using GitHub Actions, Argo, Semaphore, etc.
  • Experience with event-driven and service-oriented architectures
  • Data ingestion pipeline experience
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience at early-stage software companies
Benefits
  • 100% paid employee health benefit options (including medical, dental, and vision)
  • 401(k) with employer funded match
  • Unlimited Vacation
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Paid parental leave
  • Catered lunch on Fridays
  • Wellness stipend
Compensation
The annual salary range for the target level for this role is $175,000 - $220,000 + equity + benefits, including medical, dental, and vision. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, interview performance, and internal equity.
