What are Rigging Assistants?

Rigging Assistants are professionals who support the setup, adjustment, and maintenance of rigging equipment used to lift, move, or secure objects, typically in industries like entertainment, construction, or shipping. They work under the supervision of riggers or rigging supervisors and are responsible for tasks such as preparing rigging gear, ensuring safety standards, and assisting with the assembly and disassembly of structures or equipment. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Rigging Assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Rigging Assistant, you need a solid understanding of rigging techniques, safety protocols, and familiarity with various rigging equipment, often gained through on-the-job training or vocational courses. Experience with technical tools such as hoists, slings, shackles, and sometimes certifications like OSHA safety training are typical requirements.
