Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Wound Care Nurse Practitioner Program Director to lead the development of a comprehensive wound care program across Ridgecrest Regional Hospital’s acute, long-term care, ambulatory, and post-acute settings. This is a unique opportunity to shape a system-wide clinical service that improves healing outcomes and enhances quality of care.

In this leadership role, you will provide direct patient care within your scope of practice, including rounding and writing orders, while also supervising a wound care nurse and other clinical professionals. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure best practices and consistency in wound treatment protocols.

Patient Care & Treatment
  • Deliver advanced wound care services across multiple care environments
  • Round on patients, evaluate wound healing, and initiate treatment plans
  • Document care and communicate with attending providers
  • Educate patients and families on wound management

Collaborative Teamwork
  • Develop and oversee the wound care program, including protocols and quality standards
  • Supervise wound care staff and collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehab, and home health teams
  • Foster a patient-centered, team-oriented environment focused on healing and prevention 

Qualifications
  • NP licensed in California, Active, unrestricted professional license
  • BSN, MSN, or equivalent clinical background
  • 5+ years experience in wound care, preferably in hospital and post-acute settings
  • Experience in Clinical leadership, protocols, policies, outcome monitoring, Participate in QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement)
  • Familiar with federal and state regulations regarding wound care in the SNF, the hospital, and outpatient clinics.
  • One year experience preferred in developing/implementing programs, or two years preferred in a supervisory role and program management. 
  • Wound Care Certification such as: CWCA (Certified Wound Care Associate), CWS (Certified Wound Specialist), NAWCO / WCEI – e.g. Wound Care Certified (WCC)
  • Strong communication, coordination, and supervisory skills
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English
  • Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with patients, families, coworkers, and the community
