About the Role
As a Senior HW Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in defining and driving the architectural design of Airspan's cutting-edge radio systems. This role involves owning the complete hardware system design process, from translating high-level customer requirements into detailed circuit design specifications to ensuring product compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable, and reliable hardware solutions that meet the demanding requirements of modern wireless networks.
Airspan's hardware portfolio is built for scalability and reliability, with over 50,000 5G radios and 700,000 4G radios deployed in live networks worldwide. Our solutions meet the demands of public and private networks with unmatched efficiency and performance, spanning dense urban deployments and expansive industrial applications. Key Responsibilities
  • Define the physical architecture of radio systems, including board partitioning and high-level design to meet system and customer requirements.
  • Create high-level system requirements and translate them into detailed circuit design specifications.
  • Perform system budgeting, including RF link budgets, power budgets, and thermal heat dissipation budgets.
  • Own and manage the RF frequency planning to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Define the front-end cavity filter duplexor mask to meet system requirements
  • Assist designers with component selection, considering performance, cost, and part availability.
  • Collaborate with digital design teams to define high-level clock plans and ensure seamless integration between RF and digital subsystems.
  • Act as a design authority and gatekeeper for driving quality into the design process through comprehensive documentation, design review participation, and test data analysis.
  • Oversee environmental, compliance, regulatory, and installation requirements, ensuring that designs meet all applicable standards and guidelines.
  • Engage with customers during the early stages of product definition to help shape products that meet customer needs and technical requirements.
  • Stay current with emerging hardware technologies, industry standards, and best practices to influence future product designs.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) or Master's degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Extensive experience in RF hardware system design
  • Strong knowledge of RF system budgeting, including link budgets, power budgets, and thermal analysis.
  • Hands-on expertise with RF and hardware development tools, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and RF simulation.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards for wireless communication systems.
  • Proven ability to perform detailed design reviews, analyze test data, and drive quality improvements in hardware design processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Experience engaging with customers during the product definition phase to shape solutions that meet customer needs.
