RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Automation Specialist - CA OPS/MVS for a remote role. This position directly impacts enterprise automation and infrastructure operations teams.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Automation Migration Specialist to lead the transition from CA OPS/MVS and CA Automation Point to Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS) and Systems Automation for Integrated Operations Management (SAIOM). This role is responsible for converting existing automation rules, REXX execs, and operational policies into policy-based automation framework while ensuring high availability, operational resilience, and minimal disruption to production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead migration of CA OPS/MVS rules and REXX automation scripts to IBM Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS
* Convert and validate existing automation logic into System Automation Policy Database (PDB)
* Migrate CA Automation Point configurations to SAIOM
* Install, configure, and customize SA z/OS and SAIOM environments
* Perform policy definition, validation, and testing in development and production sysplex environments
* Support system startup, shutdown, and failover automation configuration
* Develop and modify REXX execs to support automation conversion
* Implement policy-based automation standards to reduce manual operations
* Integrate automation with NetView for z/OS and other monitoring tools
* Validate event-driven automation triggers and system responses
* Support high-availability configurations and fully automated system environments
* Troubleshoot automation conflicts, rule failures, and system events
* Collaborate with system programmers and infrastructure teams
* Optimize automation workflows for improved system stability
* Provide post-migration support and stabilization
* Document configurations, procedures, and best practices
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of working in a mainframe (z/OS) operations or automation environment
* Hands-on experience with: NetView for z/OS; System Automation for z/OS
* Strong working knowledge of: TSO/ISPF; JCL; REXX programming; System Automation Policy Database (PDB)
* Experience with z/OS automation migration projects
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work cross-functionally with infrastructure and operations teams
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience migrating from: CA OPS/MVS; CA Automation Point
* Knowledge of: z/OS system startup and shutdown processes; SMP/E installation and configuration; Fully automated system configurations
* Familiarity with competing ISV automation tools
* Understanding of enterprise monitoring integrations

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
