About the Team

The Global Real Estate & Workplace (REW) team creates and continuously improves Workday’s productive and safe office environments while supporting our core values and distinction as a great place to work. With this critical contribution to the company in mind, we partner with other Workday departments such as People & Purpose, Business Technology, and Finance to ensure that we are successful in delivering on this goal. We handle every aspect of workplace operations, space analysis and projects, building facilities and maintenance. We capture employee rapport, keep track of office utilization, recommend expansions and / or new locations and coordinate projects for office build-outs and control operating and capital expenses.

About the Role

Workday is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join the Real Estate and Workplace team. This full-time position is based out of our Pleasanton, California office location. This position plays a critical role as a member of the RE&W team and will report to our Sr. Manager of Global Real Estate & Workplace Strategy and Planning. This position is an integral part of the REW Strategy team that owns all Workplace related data sources.

As REW’s Business Analyst, you will work closely with cross functional departments to ensure all teams are working towards the same data driven goals to influence and aid in real estate business decision making at Workday.

We are looking for someone experienced, flexible, reliable, outgoing, and professional, with a positive work attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal cross functional teams within REW such as Global Safety and Security, Global Operations, Design and Construction, and Real Estate Strategy teams to consolidate, manage and report on the REW Opex and Capex budgets

  • Partner with Finance to lead the REW departments to assist in budget planning, financial forecasting, and resource allocation for each department through the monthly financial forecasting and accrual process

  • Developing scalable and efficient financial processes that support a rapidly growing business

  • Participate in the short and long-term financial planning of the REW organization

  • Build/maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor the performance of the organization’s financial health, business metrics and KPIs

  • Apply expertise in data analysis and visualization to see beyond the numbers and tell compelling stories with the data

  • Deliver data support for both short term and long term business development plans from strategic scope and execution aspects with in-depth analysis

  • Actively support the gathering and maintenance of data points for various employee facing REW resources

  • Create a one source of truth reflected in an automated dashboard that reflects trends and recommendations on Workplace occupancy

  • Conduct complex research/analyses and participate in meetings with subject matter experts to capture data needs and reporting requirements while noting gaps and inefficiencies

  • Design advanced data queries/data models/dashboards based on REW' needs, which may require developing the right algorithm to extract/connect information from several different REW, P&P and BT information systems

  • Collaborate with BT and P&P department subject matter experts to troubleshoot data anomalies

  • Ensure that all milestones and deliverables are met in the agreed upon timeline within the project plan

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and standard operating practices while finding opportunities for innovation and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department

  • This is an individual contributor role, that will need to work with speed, agility, while being mindful of all the data and financials to help meet the business goals

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience with emphasis on Real Estate and Workplace

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field


Other Qualifications

  • MBA in finance, data analytics, or CPA

  • Experience in financial modeling, P&L management or analysis

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools and other financial systems

  • Financial and data analytics expertise and familiarity with accounting and financial concepts of real estate, capital projects and operations expenses

  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites, preferred experience with Workday products

  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis

  • Ability to work well independently with high attention to detail

  • Ability to create dashboards


Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
