Retro Fitters, who specialize in restoring and upgrading vintage equipment, are less likely to be replaced by AI due to the hands-on craftsmanship and technical skills required. Jobs that involve complex manual work, creative problem-solving, and physical dexterity—such as skilled trades, specialized repair technicians, and certain craft-based roles—are expected to remain resilient against automation and AI advancements.

What are some of the typical challenges a Retro Fitter might face when upgrading existing systems or equipment?

Retro Fitters often encounter challenges such as working with outdated or incomplete documentation, fitting new components into limited or non-standard spaces, and ensuring compatibility between old and new technologies. They must problem-solve on-site, sometimes customizing solutions to unique project constraints while minimizing downtime for clients. Effective communication with engineers, project managers, and other trades is crucial to anticipate issues and deliver successful upgrades.

These skills and qualifications ensure equipment is upgraded safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations.
