Murrieta Hot Springs

Job description

Description:

Murrieta Hot Springs Resort is a historic wellness destination set on more than 46 acres in the heart of Southern California, ideally positioned between the Los Angeles and San Diego metros. Following an extensive restoration, the Resort offers an unmatched combination of natural mineral hot springs, a full-service conference center, hotel accommodations, multiple food and beverage venues, and signature spa and hospitality amenities — all in a destination that feels worlds away yet remains within a short drive of two of the largest markets in the country.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, results-driven outside sales professional to lead the Resort's expansion into the group retreat market. Multi-day gatherings — two- to five-day stays that combine working sessions with elevated hospitality — represent a significant and underserved growth opportunity for the Resort. This is a role focused on building a book of corporate, association, and organizational business from the ground up. The right candidate will bring a deep list of established connections, own a high-impact territory, work directly with the General Manager, and have meaningful financial upside through a heavily commission-based compensation structure. This is not a hotel-rooms sale. The person in this seat designs and sells multi-day experiences- pairing working sessions with hot springs, spa, and wellness programming into something a prospect can't get from a conventional hotel or resort.

Requirements:What You'll Do

Design the experience, not just booking rooms and meeting space. Co-create tailored multi-day retreat programs- agenda flow, wellness programming, F&B, and spa- that sell the outcome and the experience.

Build and own a group retreat pipeline. Identify, prospect, and close corporate, association, and organizational clients seeking two- to five-day group experiences.

Source new business in the LA and San Diego corridors. Conduct outbound outreach, in-person sales calls, networking, and territory development across Southern California's largest corporate markets.

Represent the Resort externally. Attend industry events and trade shows and cultivate relationships with corporate meeting planners, executive assistants, HR and L&D leaders, and association event directors.

Lead site visits and proposals. Host prospective clients on-property and translate the Resort's wellness experience into tailored program proposals- then negotiate and close in partnership with Resort operations.

Collaborate with internal teams. Work alongside the Director of Sales, F&B, and hospitality teams to ensure flawless execution of every booked event.

Contribute to strategy. Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, and pipeline forecasts directly to the General Manager to inform pricing, packaging, and growth strategy.

Who You Are

A relationship-driven experience seller who closes. You sell outcomes, not room nights- you can walk a prospect through a wellness retreat they can picture, build the relationship, and close it. You've built pipelines from scratch and you compete to win.

Driven and self-directed. You operate independently, manage your own territory, and hold yourself accountable to ambitious revenue targets.

A strong communicator and relationship-builder. You earn trust quickly with senior decision-makers and can move comfortably between a cold call and a CEO conversation.

Commercially sharp and creative. You know how to design, package, price, and negotiate complex multi-day retreats- balancing genuine customization against a repeatable program.

Local or willing to be. You are based in or willing to relocate to Southern California and are willing to travel regularly within the LA and San Diego markets.

What You Bring

Required: Demonstrated success selling experiences- corporate retreats, incentive travel, destination events, or premium group programs- with evidence of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets. Pure room-block sellers are not the target.

Required: Excellent presentation, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Required: Comfort with CRM tools, pipeline management, and modern sales workflows.

Preferred: Existing network of corporate meeting planners, executive assistants, HR/L&D leaders, or association event directors in the Southern California market.

Compensation & Structure

Base salary: $110,000, with flexibility based on experience and book of business.

Commission: Tiered commission of 5%–8% on booked revenue, with higher tiers unlocking as annual production scales. Top performers have meaningful, uncapped earning potential.

Territory: Full ownership and exclusivity over corporate retreat business sourced through this role. A clear attribution framework is in place to ensure fair credit between outbound efforts and the Resort's existing inbound channels.

Reporting: Reports directly to the General Manager, with a coordination relationship to the Director of Sales.

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, expense reimbursement for travel, and Resort amenity access.

Why This Role

• Ground-floor opportunity to define and own a strategic growth segment for a recently restored, marquee Southern California resort.

• Direct and meaningful influence over strategy, pricing, and product.

• A product you can actually sell on experience- a true wellness destination with conference infrastructure- in a market saturated with interchangeable group hotels. Your pitch is the one prospects remember.

• High autonomy, high upside, and a long runway of untapped market demand within a 90-minute drive of two of the largest corporate markets in the U.S.

How to Apply

Submit your resume along with a brief note describing the most significant book of business you have built from scratch, including how you sourced and closed your top three accounts.

Associate Benefits:

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • 401(K) Matching
