Job description

The Williston Northampton School, an independent co-educational boarding and day school located in Easthampton, MA, has a full-time, calendar-year opening for a Custodian/Housekeeper.
The schedule for the position is Monday - Friday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Occasional extra hours due to special events.
Responsible for fulfilling the assignments for day to day campus housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions through campus facilities by performing the following essential functions: all standard custodial/housekeeping tasks; sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office spaces; empties trash and garbage containers in campus buildings including dormitories, academic buildings, children's center and administrative offices; notifies manager concerning the need for repairs, or an addition to lighting, and potential heating issues; submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, and supplies. The successful candidate must: have one to three years of institutional experience preferably in an educational setting; be able to work intuitively and independently as well as part of the Physical Plant team; have strong organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities as situations arise in fast paced environment; have the ability to understand written and oral instruction; have demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills in order to successfully interact with diverse staff, faculty, students and other constituents of the School; have a working knowledge of commercial chemicals and cleaning equipment; be capable of performing repetitive tasks such as, bending, lifting (up to 35 lbs.), pushing, stair climbing; be able to work in secondary boarding school atmosphere by successfully passing CORI, SORI and fingerprint based background checks; possess a valid driver's license and be able to successfully pass a post offer employment physical.
