Job Description: Store Director

Department: STORE MANAGEMENT

Direct Supervisor: DISTRICT MANAGER

FLSA Status: EXEMPT

Starting Rate of Pay: $60,000.00/yr

Honokowai Location- (Maui): $70,000.00/yr


Job Summary: The Store Director is directly responsible and accountable for overseeing all aspects of the store that he/she is assigned, namely ensuring that all company directives are executed within expectation with the intent to maximize sales and profitability while simultaneously minimizing expenses and any losses. 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Customer service
  • Promotes and maintains proper and efficient servicing of customers.
  • Responsible and accountable for the entire stores profitability
  • Conducts floor checks, ensuring that the shelves are adequately stocked, products merchandised properly rotated, price integrity enforced according to company standards.
  • Directly trains, develops and supervises the Assistant Store Director, and all department managers.
  • Indirectly trains, develops and supervises associates through department managers.
  • Authorized to approve documents and items relating to the operation of his/her store.
  • Fosters good relationships in the community, and collaborates with business partners.
  • Ensures that the store complies with the rules/regulations of various government and regulatory agencies.
  • Directly reviews and controls expenses within the store.
  • Ensures good communication is maintained between associates, store management, and the retail support center staff.
  • Fosters a harmonious positive work environment.
  • Provides a safe and sanitary environment for customers and associates.
  • Enforces all safety procedures and policies to ensure safe work practices
  • Ensures all company programs, philosophies and company image are carried out and maintained.
  • Provides training, guidance and counseling to store management staff and associates.
  • Take appropriate loss prevention measures.
  • Must be proficient in the Computer Generated Ordering System (CGO)
  • Abide by and enforce all company policies and procedures fairly and consistently.

Other Job Duties:

  • Recommend changes in procedures, house rules and work methods as necessary.
  • Recognize and assist in the advancement of qualified associates.
  • Conduct periodic competitor checks.
  • Interview perspective applicants according to equal employment opportunity guidelines.
  • Attends periodic meetings at the retail support center.
  • Edits or inputs information onto Time Solutions(Time and Attendance program)
  • Occasional receiving of merchandise with or without the DSD (direct store delivery) gun.
  • Periodic taking of inventories, downloading inventories, and auditing inventories.
  • Any tasks as deemed necessary by management

Physical Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older (operates heavy machinery) (sell liquor)
  • Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 1000 lbs with assistance.
  • Frequent reaching above shoulders
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Frequently bending, squatting and stooping required during the course of the workday.
  • Occasionally may need to kneel and crawl, climb ladders and stairs
  • Walking for majority of shift.
  • Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for various activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Training/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of business and managerial principles and practices pertaining to general management.
  • 5 years experience as a successful department manager
  • Experience with strategic planning
  • Experience with basic human resource management principles and procedures, primarily in the areas of coaching, training and development of supervisory/managerial staff
  • Experience with basic economic and accounting principles and practices, primarily in the areas of expense/shrink reduction, labor management and profitability.
  • Experience with office administrative procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, primarily Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Proficient on the usage of email
