Job description

Stan's Shoes in Glendale is looking for an Assistant Store Manager who loves working with people, knows how to sell, and is ready to help a team perform at its best.
Maybe you're already an Assistant Manager. Maybe you're a Keyholder, Shift Lead, Sales Lead, or Supervisor who's become the person others look to when the store gets busy. If you have retail leadership experience and you're ready for more responsibility, this could be a great next step.
This is a hands-on sales leadership role. You'll work alongside the Store Manager to coach the team, drive sales, and deliver the personalized sit-and-fit experience Stan's has been known for for generations.
You'll still sell-but your impact gets bigger when you help the people around you sell better, too.
What You'll Do
Lead From the Sales Floor
At Stan's, our leaders don't manage from the back room. You'll be on the floor with your team, setting the pace and helping turn great customer service into great sales results.
You'll:
  • Lead by example and deliver an exceptional customer experience
  • Coach associates in real time on selling skills and customer interactions
  • Help your team build confidence asking questions, making recommendations, and closing sales
  • Keep associates focused on individual and store sales goals
  • Recognize wins and use slower moments as opportunities to teach and develop
  • Step in when someone needs support with a customer or a challenging sale

We're looking for someone who can do more than hit their own numbers. We want a leader who gets excited about helping the whole team get better.
Become a Fit & Footwear Expert
You don't need to walk in knowing everything about shoes. We'll teach you our products, brands, and fitting process.
You'll learn to:
  • Measure customers and lead our signature sit-and-fit consultation
  • Recommend shoes and insoles based on fit, comfort, support, and lifestyle
  • Build strong product knowledge and use it to make confident recommendations
  • Help your team strengthen their own fitting and product expertise

Our approach to sales is personal. We listen first, solve the customer's problem, and build the kind of trust that keeps people coming back.
Help Lead the Store
You'll partner closely with the Store Manager and take on greater leadership responsibility as you grow in the role.
You'll:
  • Serve as Manager on Duty and confidently lead the store when the Store Manager isn't present
  • Support opening and closing procedures
  • Help train and onboard new team members
  • Assist with scheduling and maintaining strong floor coverage
  • Oversee POS and cash-handling procedures
  • Support merchandising and inventory accuracy
  • Keep the store organized, welcoming, and ready for customers

What We're Looking For
You don't need to have held an Assistant Store Manager title before. You do need some previous retail leadership experience and the confidence to step up and lead others.
You might be a great fit if you have:
  • 2+ years of retail or customer-facing experience
  • Previous retail leadership experience as a Keyholder, Shift Lead, Sales Lead, Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or similar role
  • A track record of working toward individual or team sales goals
  • The ability to encourage, coach, and motivate coworkers
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to give direction when needed
  • A positive, customer-first approach
  • Reliability, organization, and follow-through
  • Flexibility to work a full-time retail schedule, including evenings, weekends, and peak shopping periods

Experience in footwear, apparel, specialty retail, or commission sales is a plus-but it's not required.
Compensation
  • $575 weekly base pay
  • 7% starting commission on qualifying sales
  • Bonus opportunities based on individual and store performance

Store Hours
  • Monday-Friday: 10 AM-7 PM
  • Saturday: 10 AM-6 PM
  • Sunday: 11 AM-5 PM

This is a hands-on retail management position with a varied schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, weekends, and peak shopping periods.This position will also be scheduled before opening or after closing as needed.
