Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) will assist the Store Manager in developing and leading a professional retail associate team to ensure achievement of operational goals and customer satisfaction.  This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service by ensuring products are stocked in a clean and safe environment and available for customers to purchase.  ASMs will also be responsible for the sale of product, operating the cash register, taking payment and making change.  Assistant Managers will assist Store Managers in many of the day-to-day tasks such as opening and closing the store, completing required paperwork, reviewing security system footage per guidelines, team member training, making bank deposits and receiving trucks with product.  In the absence of Store Managers may be required to complete a list of other routine duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Uses knowledge of products, promotions and procedures to provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities and resolving any customer issues.
2. Provide fast, friendly, accurate and safe service.  Operates cash register, scan items, bags merchandise and make change for purchases.
3. Provide an excellent shopping environment by ensuring the interior of the store is kept clean.
4. Maintain product inventory ensuring product is ordered, counted and displayed according to established plan-o-grams, conducting monthly compliance checks.
5. Complete necessary steps and paperwork to receive all truck deliveries and ensure merchandise is available to customers.
6. Complete service tickets when needed to resolve problems or issues affecting the store.
7. Complete all tasks necessary to prepare and open store each morning.
8. Complete all tasks necessary to close store in the evening.
9. Train new cashiers on daily duties.
10. Complete bank deposits as required.
11. Complete daily/monthly paperwork.
12. Complete daily video reviews.
13. Maintain/fix store equipment or ensure maintenance of equipment is completed.
14. Maintain a safe working and shopping environment.  Follow up on any customer or employee injuries.
15. Assist Store Manager in the hiring process by interviewing prospective employees.
16. Administer write-offs (within prescribed limits).
17. In the absence of the Store Manager  provide backup duties including store visits, resolve problems with customers, vendors, service tickets, etc.   Also, backup the Store Manager by creating weekly schedules and payroll submission.
18. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
