Purpose: The Retail Stock Manager at Richmond International Airport oversees comprehensive stock operations for retail locations with sales up to $20 million, ensuring efficient inventory management, optimal stock levels, and seamless coordination between receiving and sales floor operations.
Essential Functions:
  • Manages all aspects of stock operations including receiving, inventory control, and merchandise flow to maximize sales opportunities; collaborates with Retail Director of Operations to optimize stock processes and achieve operational KPIs within budget parameters
  • Manages relationships with multiple vendors to ensure proper stock levels support sales objectives; coordinates operations across retail, restaurants, and duty-free shops while resolving delivery issues, shortages, and quality concerns
  • Monitors and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) including inbound throughput, labor efficiency, and operational metrics; manages reverse logistics for store and vendor returns while developing contingency plans for distribution center operations
  • Develops and implements stock procedures and standards to ensure consistent execution across all shifts; collaborates with airport leadership on hiring decisions while training, coaching, and developing stock team members and administering corrective actions and terminations as needed
  • Ensures compliance with U.S. Customs, FDA, and other regulatory bodies; maintains accurate records especially for bonded merchandise and passes required government background checks for Customs Bonded Warehouse operations
  • Enforces comprehensive food safety protocols including FIFO stock rotation, expiration date monitoring, and HACCP compliance; conducts regular Quality Assurance tours and maintains cleanliness and security of food storage areas
  • Analyzes inventory data and stock performance metrics using SAP, CrunchTime, and other management systems; implements cycle counting programs and maintains accurate perpetual inventory records
  • Coordinates with merchandising and sales teams to support promotional activities, seasonal resets, and new product launches; ensures proper stock allocation and timely floor replenishment
  • Communicates and collaborates with airport management teams to build partnerships and align operational goals while maintaining compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements
  • Plans and executes annual physical inventory processes; coordinates with external audit teams and implements corrective actions for inventory discrepancies while maintaining operational continuity

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
  • Education and Experience:The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 4 years:
    • In a management role: Requires at least one year of experience managing stock operations or inventory management teams in retail environments
    • In a technical role: Requires 4 years of experience in stock operations, inventory management, or supply chain coordination with multi-location responsibility
    • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related program can count for 2 of the 4-year requirement
  • Specialized Training:
    • Knowledge of retail inventory management systems, supply chain processes, and vendor relationship management
    • Experience with inventory systems like SAP and CrunchTime; SAP WMS experience preferred
    • Understanding of U.S. Customs, FDA, and regulatory compliance requirements
    • Working knowledge of HACCP preferred
    • Knowledge of loss prevention and regulatory compliance requirements for stock operations
  • Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:
    • Strong financial and analytical skills with ability to interpret inventory reports, analyze stock performance data, and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce costs
    • Ability to manage multi-line business operations across retail, restaurant, and duty-free environments with understanding of unique operational requirements for each
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to resolve complex inventory issues, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs
    • Valid driver's license with clean driving record; CDL or commercial truck driving experience preferred but not required, especially in urban locations
