Job Description:

The IT Specialist will install, upgrade, and maintain computer hardware and peripheral equipment. Coordinate technology needs with outsourced vendors for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Assist in researching, planning, and implementing new technologies to improve retail operations and team member efficiency. The Technology Specialist will also maintain that all systems are up to industry standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Install or modify IT systems, printers, phones, scanners, TV's and other technology. Provide technical support and consultation in the use and operations of internet connectivity and computer operating systems, accounting software, security systems, and POS systems across all departments.
  • Investigate new techniques, equipment, and data processing methods. Evaluate technical requirements for new or upgrades in hardware/software.
  • Monitor software updates and upgrades and alert Departments when due or past due.
  • Maintain databases and libraries including systems security functions, passwords, inventory of equipment, etc.
  • Design and maintain systems documentation according to applicable policies and standards.
  • Track and maintain rosters of equipment rented out and returned.
  • Coordinate technology resources including main IT system and networks, telecommunications network, POS systems, telephone system(s), and personal computer connectivity.
  • Evaluate and procure new technology and computer supplies according to budgetary line items.
  • Keep abreast of state-of-the-art developments in both the retail and petroleum industries.
  • Evaluate technology proposals and agreements and provide recommendations to management on vendors, bids, outsourcing.
  • Coordinate the services of vendors to ensure quality of service and timeliness. Review vendor contracts for compliance. Function as the contract's administrator for all outsourced technology services.
  • Assist other staff members in resolving issues with technology.
  • Ensure that all software licenses are maintained.
  • Crosstrain and backup other team members for selected critical job functions.
  • Document systems, process and/or procedures.
  • Diagnose network, telephone, hardware and software related problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Travel to locations required.
  • Perform routine software updates either remotely or on site.
  • Ability to learn basic programming.
  • Understand Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 7/10/Server.
  • Experience in Cisco Meraki Routers/Infrastructure.
  • Maintenance and updates to the company website.
  • Other activities include network, computer, and printer troubleshooting, project management, data cabling, mounting hardware and systems administration.
  • Experience supporting PC's, Printers, and Cell Phones.
  • Proven skills in PC repair, troubleshooting and deployment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to act independently, as well as the ability to engage and to find and implement upgrades and resolutions.
  • Assist with team members building security access and badge creation/terminations.

Must Have Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology
  • Proven ability to travel and support multiple locations
  • Highly skilled in task prioritization and workload management in fast-paced environments
