Position Summary:  

The Bookstore and Resource Center Sales Coordinator (SC) will promote The King Center's core values, as well as the vision and goals of the Beloved Community. As we strive to become a Beloved Community Organization, the Bookstore and Resource Center (BRC) Sales Coordinator Associate must be willing to learn Nonviolence365 and incorporate it into leadership and customer service practices to support the King Center's mission.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Learn and disseminate information about The King's Center Nonviolence 365 program and The Six Principles of Nonviolence, special exhibits, and organizational mission. 
  • Bring positive recognition to The King Center's brand through professionalism, enthusiastic attitude, and effective communication. 
  • Establish a collaborative working relationship with all staff to support organizational initiatives and objectives. 
  • Maintain a "team-oriented" outlook and uphold a superior level of customer service. 
  • Consistently foster a positive store experience by treating all customers and team members with dignity and respect. 
  • Treat customers as the priority always by creating a unique and engaging shopping experience. 
  • Accept responsibility and execute all assignments with care and accuracy. 
  • Seek and provide help and support when needed. Accept coaching and feedback from others openly.  
  • Must represent a positive attitude about the company and its initiatives. 

Supervisory and Sales Responsibilities 

  • Demonstrate sales leadership for the team by playing an active role on the selling floor. 
  • Maintains strong knowledge regarding products, promotions, and special events to communicate to customers for more effective selling. 
  • Upselling products to increase revenue by offering complementary products to those being purchased. 
  • Assist with ensuring optimal staffing levels in each location; work with the Bookstore Manager to ensure optimum floor coverage.? 
  • Provide team members with directions to ensure proper movement of goods to the selling floor. 
  • Work with the retail team to set, obtain, and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals. 
  • Responsible for assisting with store opening and closing. 

Stores Responsibilities 

  • Protect the security of cash, inventory, and other assets according to company guidelines and policy.? 
  • Operate all register transactions including that of management (refunds, exchanges, associate sales, post voids, store credits, change request). 
  • Execute Opening and Closing checklist duties as directed by store management to ensure the store is always ready for business. 
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the merchandise and how it relates to the mission, programs and the King legacy. 
  • Assist with receiving incoming merchandise, restocking sales floor, preparing items for special sales and promotions, including pricing, tagging, and merchandising sales floor. 
  • Assist as needed with inventory record keeping duties, related to retail store and online sales activity.  
  • Work with the bookstore Manager to devise a cohesive merchandising and display strategy for each store, creating an appealing, dynamic, and appropriate visual and sales-generating impact. 
  • Take pride in the bookstore by maintaining a neat and organized store environment to create a positive shopping experience for visitors. 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by upper Management without hesitation. 


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Candidate should have an associate or bachelor's degree 
  • At least 2 to 3 years of retail experience with at least 1 year in a management role. 
  • Visual merchandising experience. 
  • Experience with POS systems, Excel, and the Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.?  
  • A strong background in customer service and sales, problem-solving skills, and pro-activeness. 
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures; bilingual helpful. 
  • Business acumen and analytical skills are helpful.  
  • Must be able to lift and/ or move up to 40 pounds. 
  • Must be flexible to work rotating hours, including weekends, holidays, and special evening events as assigned by management.
