Job description

Merchandise Planning and Product Consultant

Merchmix is a merchandising and inventory operating system with intelligence at its core, helping retailers connect planning, buying, allocation, suppliers and execution in one platform. From fashion to FMCG, retailers use Merchmix to cut waste, protect margin and decide faster. We want to change how retail is run.

Independent contractor, remote, around eight hours a week. We are looking for a retail planning professional to work with our product team on a flexible consulting basis, bringing hands-on retail experience into how the platform is designed across merchandise planning, assortment planning, allocation and replenishment, PLM, visual merchandising, inventory and ERP.

Key responsibilities
  • Review product concepts, prototypes and workflows.
  • Test new features and report back on what works.
  • Give practical feedback based on how planning and merchandising teams actually work day to day.
  • Help design and improve workflows across the platform.
What we are looking for
  • Two to four years in merchandise planning, assortment planning, allocation, inventory planning or a similar retail role.
  • A good understanding of MFP, WSSI, open to buy, forecasting, stock management and replenishment.
  • Experience with retail planning or merchandising systems.
  • Comfortable working independently and giving clear, practical feedback.
  • An interest in retail technology and in improving the tools planners use.
The engagement

This suits someone who wants a flexible professional engagement alongside family, consulting, study or other commitments, while staying connected to the retail industry.

  • Around eight hours a week, flexible hours, primarily remote.
  • Initial three-month engagement with potential to continue.
  • New York, New Jersey or Boston based candidates preferred.
