What is the Opportunity?
Aecon's rapidly growing federal business is seeking Project Mangers to lead the planning and execution of construction projects at Department of Energy, Department of War and US Army Corp of Engineer facilities. In this role, you will lead cross functional teams, manage subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure all project deliverables meet Aecon's rigorous standards for safety, quality, cost, and schedule. Successful candidates will be play a key role in the growth and success of our business unit and manage projects in the field.

This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
What You'll Do Here:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with our clients, engineering partners, and field operations, ensuring seamless communication and to support our execution.
  • Lead tasks to proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the process for effective change order management and resolution.
  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier performance to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Develop and implement active risk mitigation strategy.
  • Lead project teams in review and analysis of project performance to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Drive financial performance through accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting; ensure profitability and cash flow targets are achieved.
  • Support all phases of construction, from pre-construction planning and procurement through commissioning and closeout.
  • Promote development of technical solutions to address complex challenges
  • Manage contracts, change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation to ensure compliance with company and client requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all regulatory and environmental standards.
  • Lead an interdisciplinary team and ensures the project has capacity and expert capabilities in engineering; procurement; construction activities; finance; design management; project controls; contract management; quality; labor relations; and safety.
  • Lead by example to maintain a positive safe respectful work environment and oversee / mentor the work of junior team members.
  • Represent Aecon at progress meetings, client reviews, and site visits, building strong relationships and repeat business.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to comply with local agency and environmental issues and requirements.
  • Assist in securing new work through participation in bidding and proposals.
  • Conduct regular safety observations and inspections

What You Bring To The Team:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management, facility management or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations/maintenance, construction, and/or project controls with a minimum of 3 years in a management position.
  • PMP certification or equivalent professional training is a strong asset.
  • Citizen of the United States
  • Ability to obtain DOE/DOD/NRC clearance as necessary
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling (MS Project, P6), cost management, and risk analysis.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing subcontractors
  • Skilled in financial forecasting, cost management, and project reporting, with a track record of driving project success and contributing to business growth
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and client facing skills.
  • Negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with project management platforms such as Procore, HCSS, or similar tools.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work at project sites as required.
