Right now, our SEQUIM, WA store is seeking a Full Time Assistant Production Manager!
Hourly Rate: $20.00 per hour
Position Summary: The Assistant Production Manager provides direct oversight of the production operation and production staff while actively participating in sorting, processing, material handling, inventory movement, and quality control functions. This position plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of the production department and supporting the overall success of the store. This is a highly active, hands-on leadership position that requires continuous engagement in daily production activities. The Assistant Production Manager partners with the Store Manager to ensure efficient workflow, productivity, safety, and quality standards while supporting employees and maintaining operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Production Manager responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned:
Production Operations & Leadership
  • Support the Store Manager in achieving operational, financial, and customer service objectives within the production environment.
  • Perform all opening and closing procedures and responsibilities.
  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of production operations, supervisors, and hourly team members.
  • Lead and coordinate semi-annual inventory process and maintain supplies necessary to support ongoing production and store operations.
  • Monitor production output and productivity to ensure established goals and performance standards are achieved.
  • Actively participate in daily production activities, including sorting, processing, grading, pricing support, merchandise movement, and workflow management.
  • Move, organize, and transport rolling racks, carts, bins, and merchandise throughout the facility as needed.
  • Work alongside staff to support production volume requirements during peak operational periods.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, directing, and delegating daily production work assignments and operational priorities. Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout all stages of the production process.
  • Continuously assess workflow and make adjustments to improve production efficiency and throughput.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and ensure spending remains within approved monthly and annual budgets.
  • Ensure payroll expenses remain within budgeted parameters.
  • Ensure all payroll records, wage requests, and employee timekeeping records are accurate and current.
  • Ensure building systems and facilities are properly maintained by submitting and monitoring maintenance requests.
  • Actively participate in interviewing, onboarding, and training production employees in accordance with Goodwill's hiring guidelines and practices.

Loss Prevention, Safety, & Asset Protection
  • Serve as the store's security "captain" partnering with management and Loss Prevention to protect company assets from internal and external theft.
  • Promote awareness and adherence to all company policies related to asset protection, cash control, and operational compliance within the retail store environment.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained on safe lifting, material handling, and production procedures.
  • Ensure all production equipment, workstations, and work areas remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Investigate, document, and communicate security incidents and operational concerns as appropriate.
  • Ensure Loss Prevention (LP) audits are completed and maintained at acceptable levels.
  • Verify that security and safety systems are operational, including door locks, alarms, bank deposits, refunds, vouchers, and incident reporting procedures.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three years related experience in retail supervision or management with proven incremental supervisory advancement
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills
  • Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and consensus

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and comfort using a computer, mouse, keyboard, 10-key, and touchscreen. Ability to move through various screens in multiple software and use web-based platforms with ease.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid First-Aid/ CPR card which meets OSHA and WISHA standards (may be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Will constantly lift 1-15 pounds, frequently lift 15-20 pounds, and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
