Job description

$100,000 Training Salary | Career Path to Multi-Unit Leadership

Ready to Lead More?

You’ve proven you can drive a retail business. Now you’re ready for the opportunity to expand your impact.

Factory Direct Enterprises LLC d/b/a Ashley (FDE) is looking for strong retail sales leaders who are either:

  • Ready Now to bring proven multi-unit leadership experience into our business, or
  • Ready for Development after successfully leading a high-volume store, team, or sales organization and earning the opportunity to take the next step.

This is not a traditional management training program.

It is a hands-on, competency-based path to Area Sales Manager leadership built around a simple progression:

Master the Business → Lead Through Others → Own the Market

Whether you already lead multiple locations or are ready to make that transition, you’ll learn the FDE business from the inside out before assuming full market responsibility.

PHASE 1 | MASTER THE BUSINESS

Learn it. Sell it. Understand what drives it.

Great multi-unit leaders understand what happens where the business is won: on the sales floor.

You’ll begin by immersing yourself in the Ashley sales experience, working alongside our teams and learning firsthand how our highest-performing stores create results.

You’ll develop command of:

  • The FDE sales process and Amazing White Glove Service
  • Sales, Close Rate, Sales Per Guest and Average Sale
  • Sleep, Protection and Financing performance
  • Guest experience and showroom execution
  • The behaviors and processes that drive high-performing locations
  • The financial and operational fundamentals behind the business

Before you can coach leaders to drive the process, you need to understand how the process creates results.

PHASE 2 | LEAD THROUGH OTHERS

Move from personal execution to driving performance through leadership.

Your focus then shifts from doing the work yourself to creating results through other leaders.

Working alongside Area Sales Managers and Regional Sales Directors, you’ll develop your ability to:

  • Coach General Sales Managers and Store Managers
  • Lead business and performance reviews
  • Diagnose KPI opportunities and build action plans
  • Drive consistent execution of sales and leadership processes
  • Recruit, onboard, coach and retain top talent
  • Navigate accountability and performance conversations
  • Manage payroll, expenses and profitability
  • Build succession plans and leadership bench strength
  • Execute company initiatives consistently across multiple teams

This is where strong operators become strong multi-unit leaders.

Your success is no longer measured only by what you personally accomplish—it is measured by your ability to develop leaders who consistently deliver results.

PHASE 3 | OWN THE MARKET

Lead at scale.

As you demonstrate readiness, you’ll progressively assume responsibility for multiple locations and begin operating as an Area Sales Manager with executive oversight.

You’ll learn to lead:

  • Multi-store sales and profitability
  • Store and leadership performance
  • Talent development and succession
  • Recruiting and retention
  • KPI execution
  • Operational consistency
  • Market-level strategy and accountability

The goal is to prepare you to independently own a multi-store business and lead it successfully.

Advancement is based on demonstrated competency, sustained performance and readiness—not simply time in the program.

There are two paths to being a strong candidate for this opportunity.

READY NOW

You may already be a:

  • District Manager
  • Area Manager
  • Market Manager
  • Multi-Unit Manager
  • Regional Retail Leader

You’ve demonstrated that you can lead through others, manage multiple businesses and drive measurable results.

Your development will focus on mastering the FDE and Ashley business model so you can apply your existing multi-unit leadership capability successfully within our organization.

READY FOR DEVELOPMENT

You may currently be a:

  • High-performing Store Manager
  • General Manager
  • Leader of a large, complex or high-volume retail location

You’ve mastered single-store leadership and are ready for someone to give you the opportunity to prove you can do more.

We’ll provide the structure, exposure, mentorship and real-world business experience to help you make the transition from:

Compensation

During Development

$100,000 annual training salary, based on qualifications and relevant experience.

Upon Placement as an Area Sales Manager

$90,000 base salary + company bonus opportunity based on assigned stores.

Potential annual bonus earnings range from:

$50,000–$100,000 in addition to base salary.

Placement into an Area Sales Manager position is based on demonstrated readiness, sustained performance and organizational business needs.

What You Bring

We’re looking for proven leaders with a track record of delivering results and developing people.

  • 5+ years of progressive retail sales and leadership experience
  • Proven success driving sales, profitability and guest experience
  • Strong coaching and people-development capabilities
  • Experience recruiting, developing and retaining high-performing teams
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Experience managing performance and accountability
  • A history of increasing leadership responsibility and measurable results
  • Multi-unit leadership experience preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated success leading a high-volume, flagship or complex retail operation may substitute for previous multi-unit experience
  • Flexibility to travel throughout the Long Island market
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on business needs

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Organizational Leadership or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and progressive leadership experience will be considered.

Your Market

This position will support the broader Long Island market.

Regular travel between assigned retail locations is an essential part of the role. Future Area Sales Manager responsibility and store assignments will be determined based on business needs.

Additional travel may be required for leadership meetings, training, store openings and company initiatives.
