In this role, you will take part in a 1-2 year accelerated training program allowing you to work hands-on in the kitchen at Next Door. You'll work with products, create dishes and guests to strengthen your culinary skills and passion. You will learn about Wegmans values, business measures and culinary standards whilemastering recipesand cooking techniques with the aim of becoming a successful sous chef upon completion of the program. If youre a motivated self-starter with a passion for the culinary arts and are looking for the opportunity to advance your culinary career at Wegmans and Next Door, this could be the program for you.

Note to applicant:As part of the interview process, you will be required to complete a cook test based on a prescribed menu

What You'll Do

  • Learn and work under the mentorship of Wegmans and Next Door chefs
  • Create excitement and educate others aboutspecialty restaurantsat Wegmans on topics such as cooking techniques, food and human safety, and featured products and dishes
  • Offer suggestions for food pairings
  • Possess a complete understanding of the kitchen operations and accurately forecast restaurant and guest needs when planning production lists and prioritizing tasks
  • Lead kitchen operations, controlling ordering and product usage
  • Ensure products are prepared with consistency, high-quality and are eye-appealing to ourguests
  • Assist with controlling inventory and ordering supplies to ensure needs are met and available inventory is balanced
  • Participate in menu tastings and special events, as required
