Senior Pharmacy Technician - Specialty Pharmacy
The Pharmacy Division is dedicated to ensuring safe, effective, and cost-conscious medication use while collaborating with healthcare professionals to achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes. Ideal candidate will have High School Diploma and 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience in a retail, infusion or hospital setting. Highly Prefer at least one year of IV sterile preparation experience, ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency

• Manage prescription flow to prevent backlogs in any area
Technician Dispensing
• Accurately count and pour the correct medication into an appropriately sized container
• Label containers and prepare prescriptions for pharmacist verification
• Correct all label errors and calculation discrepancies prior to pharmacist review
Register Responsibilities
• Properly identify patients using two patient identifiers to ensure correct medication delivery
• Manage patient wait times by determining appropriate actions when addressing financial issues
Technical Expertise & Computer Competency
• Follow ACHC specialty pharmacy standards and participate in the current accreditation process
• Demonstrate required technical proficiency and maintain up-to-date professional knowledge
• Provide technical support and guidance to others as needed
• Maintain assigned sections by:
Checking expiration dates
Cleaning and facing shelves
Removing partial bottles/liquids
Returning stock bottles to shelves before the last working day of each month
• Follow correct inventory procedures to prevent discrepancies
• Demonstrate competency in all computer systems and applications used in the area
• Maintain knowledge of:
o Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs)
o Third-party prescription order entry
o Patient registration
o Prescription reconciliation
EDUCATION
  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy technician training program.
  • Preferred: Two years of college credit.

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 2 years Pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center or retail pharmacy.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Required: PHTR - Reg Pharmacy Technician Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: CPHT - Certified Pharmacy Technician Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Upon Hire
  • Preferred: Current Intravenous Medication Certification (IV-Sterle Products) approved by the Accreditation Counsel for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Upon Hire

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
