The Business Intelligence Analyst supports Customer Marketing, Loyalty, and Mobile App teams by translating business needs into scalable, self-service analytics solutions. This role partners closely with stakeholders and Strategic Analytics Partners to understand key questions, define metrics, and deliver intuitive reporting tools that enable users to independently monitor performance and derive insights.

This role sits within Enterprise Analytics and plays an important part in uncovering customer insights, crafting meaningful visuals, monitoring performance, and enabling data-driven decision-making across customer acquisition, retention, and value. The focus of this position is on building high-quality dashboards, data models, and reporting frameworks that provide visibility into customer behavior, program effectiveness, and key performance indicators. 

Job Functions: 

Partner to Define Business Needs
  • Collaborate with Customer Marketing, Loyalty, and Mobile App stakeholders, along with Strategic Analytics Partners, to understand business objectives, key questions, and reporting needs
  • Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable data solutions, standardized metrics, and reusable reporting frameworks
  • Align on definitions, KPIs, and success measures to ensure consistency across teams and reporting outputs
Enable Self-Service Analytics
  • Design and deliver intuitive, user-friendly dashboards and reporting tools in Tableau and Power BI that empower business users to independently explore data and monitor performance
  • Build scalable data models and curated data sources that support consistent, repeatable self-service analysis
  • Ensure reporting solutions are accessible, well-documented, and aligned to business workflows to maximize adoption and usability
Develop and Maintain Data Solutions
  • Author and maintain advanced SQL queries to create reliable, high-quality datasets across multiple relational database platforms
  • Partner with data engineering teams to define data requirements, source new data, and ensure data is structured for efficient consumption
  • Proactively monitor data quality, identify anomalies, and resolve issues to maintain trust in reporting outputs
Drive Insight and Performance Visibility
  • Enable stakeholders to track customer behavior, campaign performance, and initiative effectiveness through well-designed reporting solutions
  • Support deeper analysis when needed by providing structured datasets and guidance on how to interpret and use available data
  • Create clear, impactful visualizations that highlight trends, opportunities, and performance drivers
Improve and Scale Analytics Capabilities
  • Continuously enhance reporting solutions to improve usability, performance, and scalability
  • Identify opportunities to standardize and automate reporting processes to reduce manual effort and increase speed to insight
  • Incorporate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tools, to improve efficiency and elevate analytical capabilities
  • Promote best practices in data usage, visualization, and self-service analytics across stakeholder groups

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is required in a relevant quantitative or business discipline, including but not limited to business analytics, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, management information systems, computer science, or engineering. A master's degree is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a business intelligence, reporting, or data analytics role, preferably within retail, sales, marketing, or operations
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports in Tableau and/or Power BI
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience writing SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data management, analytics tools, and the creation of ad-hoc reports

Skills and Physical Demands:  

  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL query writing, including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, CTEs, and query optimization across multiple relational database platforms, including SQL Server and Snowflake
  • Proficiency in Tableau and Power BI, including dashboard design, calculated fields, and performance optimization
  • Experience with data wrangling, cleansing, and quality validation
  • Foundational understanding of relational database concepts, structures, and data manipulation, including familiarity with enterprise data environments
  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods and retail math concepts (e.g., margin, conversion, comp sales, basket size) and their application to business analysis
  • Experience identifying and executing reporting automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve analytical efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly adopt and apply emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tools and workflows, to enhance analytical productivity and decision-support capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience presenting to executive and non-technical audiences
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in identifying and resolving data discrepancies
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a natural intellectual curiosity and openness to change
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
