JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective

This role will support Business Banking Officers in the management of the credit portfolio. This role will work closely with lenders and credit risk management in reviewing and analyzing financial statements, conducting due diligence, assessing credit risk, testing covenants, preparing risk rate and covenant memos, and monitoring and managing the credit portfolio.

Essential Functions

  • Request, Review and Spread company/guarantor financial information.
  • Review loan agreements and evaluate the credit for compliance through financial reporting requirement and covenant testing
  • Work directly with clients with requesting financial information and consistent follow-ups
  • Prepare memos for the loan file such as covenant waiver requests, risk rate upgrade/downgrade with financial analysis
  • Tracking of outstanding financials and clearing ticklers
  • Ensure loan file is maintained with current financials and in-compliance in accordance with the loan agreement
  • Complete thorough, accurate, and in-depth analysis of credits in a timely manner.
  • Test covenants in accordance with the loan agreement
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies and procedures and identify exceptions to credit policy.
  • Recommend appropriate risk ratings in accordance with credit policy guidelines.
  • Attend meetings and/or conference calls on transactions, lead due diligence discussions and develop deal indicative term sheets and deal screen presentations.
  • Structure transactions appropriately that meet client’s needs and bank’s requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive credit analysis (cash flow analysis, trend analysis, sensitivity analysis etc.) for deal screens and assist in presentation to credit committee in support of approval.
  • Monitor, review and evaluate ongoing compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with renewals, extensions and annual credit reviews, as needed.
Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities
  • Proficiency with financial modeling and excellent financial analysis skills (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, financial ratios, personal financial statements, tax returns etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of C&I and CRE lending process, including credit evaluation and underwriting.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven organizational skills, ability to work independently and be detail oriented and thorough.
  • Ability to work well on a team and develop collaborative partnerships across the banking platform.
  • Ability to work on multiple transactions simultaneously and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of banking systems (LoanVantage preferred).
Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates in an office setting, the opportunity to telework is not available. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

Travel

Limited local travel may be required for this position.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred (or additional equivalent related experience)
  • Three or more years of commercial banking, portfolio management, underwriting or related banking experience
  • Formal credit training preferred

The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000–$100,000 annually.

For Applicants located in Fredericksburg, Virginia (VA):

The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000–$95,000 annually.

For Applicants located in Richmond, Virginia (VA):

The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000–$90,000 annually.

For Applicants from all other locations:

The salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

The ranges listed for Viriginia represent the good-faith compensation the Company reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and business needs. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation, such as bonuses or incentive pay, where applicable.
