Reports To: Store Manager                                                                    

Job Category: 6 (Support)

PURPOSE

The Grocery Retail Associate (Store Clerk) supports daily store operations and delivers a positive shopping experience for customers. This position is responsible for cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and assisting customers throughout the store. The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate a cash register accurately while following all checkout and cash-handling procedures (cash, credit/debit, EBT, WIC, gift cards, coupons, and checks)
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service, addressing complaints and feedback effectively.
  • Consistently report to scheduled shifts on time and prepared to work.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain merchandise in grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, and produce departments
  • Assist with unloading delivery trucks and organizing product
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized store conditions including sales floor, restrooms, backroom, displays, and parking lot
  • Retrieve shopping carts and maintain entrance areas
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service
  • Ensure proper product signage, pricing, and display standards
  • Support other departments and complete additional duties as assigned
  • Must Adhere to a uniform dress code
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Prior retail or grocery experience
  • Cash handling or POS experience
  • Tailors messaging to meet the needs of diverse customers and team members
  • Takes initiative and completes work with speed and accuracy
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift, and carry items weighing 20–50 pounds on a regular basis. Items weighing more than 50 pounds require a coordinated team lift.
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, squat, and twist for extended periods
  • Push and pull carts and equipment
  • Exposure to cold, heat, and cleaning chemicals
SCOPE

The Associate is responsible for performing assigned duties that support daily operations, customer service, and company standards. This role does not include supervisory or managerial authority and operates under the direction of store or department leadership.
