Promotions and Events Coordinator

Job Description

The Basement Brewhaus Promotions and Events Coordinator is responsible for ALL promotional aspects necessary to informing the campus community of the services available at the Basement Brewhaus. This includes working with the Centers Marketing Team, public relations, advertising, promoting special events, managing the Brewhaus social media content and writing all materials needed to accomplish these tasks. The Promotion and Events Coordinator will work in conjunction with the Brewhaus staff to ensure a year-long series of programs and promotional events, including but not limited to Open Mic Nights, Trivia Nights, Wine and Coloring, Jazz Nights, Quit-N-Time Music Series, and Taste of Wisconsin. Student is required to set up soundboard, lights, microphones in the Brehaus. Student is also required to be able to negotiate performance contracts with professional agents andartists andensurethat all points of the contract and rider have been met for both parties.

This position reports to the Basement Brewhaus Student Manager, the Assistant Director of Campus Activities, and the Activities Coordinator.

The University Centers Student Employment Program Wage Classification Scale classifies this position as Division I, Range I.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week during the semester and attend weekly staff meetings and events as necessary. Some working hours during breaks may be available. The Promotions and Events Coordinator must be able to supervise and work without direct supervision.

Applicant must attend training with UC marketing department each semester.

Students applying for this position must pass a Criminal Background Check initiated by the University Centers.

Successful applicants must complete mandatory Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance Training within 8 weeks of beginning employment. PCI training will be provided by the University Centers and must be kept up to date throughout employment with the University Centers.

Successful applicants must also enroll in a Responsible Beverage Training class and obtain a Portage County Operator's License within their first semester of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in social media, event programming, public relations, and/or advertising is preferred, but not required. It is recommended that applicants have working knowledge of on- and off-campus media. Maintain posting all events on SPIN

Experience with sound and tech equipment. Setting up and taking down soundboards/ speaker systems with mics.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP.

Maintaining and curating schedule for drink collaborations with orgs and departments on campus.

Education

The Promotions and Events Coordinator must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
