Job Description Summary
Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor, Nutrition will develop, prepare and teach Nutrition coursework. Faculty may be assigned to SF's main Northwest campus or housed at any of the College's six educational centers within Alachua and Bradford counties. Additionally, course offerings may be taught during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats. Candidates must have the flexibility to teach at any one of these different sites and at different times throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
  • Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.
  • Strictly honor the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chair, Sciences for Health Programs
Qualifications
Required: A Master's degree in Nutrition or Food Sciences or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of the qualifying fields.
Qualifying Fields:
Biochemistry, Biology, Dietetics, Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food Sciences, Medicine, Molecular Biology, Nutrition, Wellness (with a nutrition focus), System Physiology.
Preferred: Candidates with teaching experience and the ability to incorporate appropriate instructional technology into coursework are preferred.
