These bankers help businesses renegotiate debt, restructure their capital structure, and navigate mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales to improve financial health. The goal is to maximize value for stakeholders while guiding clients through complex legal and financial processes. Restructuring bankers often work closely with creditors, legal advisors, and management teams to develop and implement recovery strategies.

New hires should be prepared for long hours, fast-paced deal environments, and the need to quickly analyze complex financial statements. Building strong technical skills, learning to prioritize tasks, and developing effective communication strategies are crucial for success. Additionally, collaborating closely with legal teams, creditors, and company management is a key part of the role, so interpersonal skills and adaptability are essential.
