Job description

About the Role

Are you a highly experienced restoration professional who is looking for a meaningful change? Do you want to run your own job sites, make key decisions, and have a direct impact on how a business grows?

We are a high-quality, owner-operated restoration and rebuilding company looking for a powerhouse Lead Mitigation Technician to take the reins of our water and fire mitigation projects. This is not just another technician job. We are looking for an autonomous professional who can handle job sites start-to-finish with minimal oversight, deliver an exceptional client experience, and actively suggest improvements to our business processes.

In return, we are willing to pay well for your expertise, reliability, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Field Operations: Execute and oversee all aspects of water extraction, structural drying, fire/smoke cleanup, mold remediation, and demolition.
  • Complete Autonomy: Manage job sites from initial assessment to final sign-off with high standards and little to no direct supervision from the owner.
  • Customer Relations: Serve as the friendly, empathetic face of the company. Guide stressed homeowners through the restoration process with clear communication and a reassuring attitude.
  • Process Improvement: Use your deep industry knowledge to evaluate our current field processes, suggesting and implementing smarter, more efficient ways to get things done.
  • Documentation & Tech: Accurately document job progress, moisture readings, and equipment tracking using industry standard protocols.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with IICRC standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in water and fire mitigation (lead technician experience highly preferred).
  • Industry Certifications: Active IICRC Certifications (WRT and ASD are highly preferred).
  • The "People" Factor: You are genuinely friendly, social, and personable. You understand that we are in the business of helping people put their lives back together.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: You don't just find problems; you bring solutions. You have the confidence to make decisions on the fly.
  • Reliability & Integrity: A clean driving record, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a background check.

What We Offer

  • Top-Tier Compensation: We pay premium rates for premium talent. Your expertise will be highly rewarded.
  • Zero Micromanagement: We trust you to do your job. If you have the skills, we will give you the keys and step out of your way.
  • Influence & Growth: Your voice matters here. You will work directly with the owner to improve business operations, meaning your ideas will shape the future of our company. We also pay for IICRC certifications and other developmental training.
  • Quality Equipment & Support: Access to well-maintained equipment and the tools you need to succeed without cutting corners.

Company Description

Our owner grew up watching neighbors help neighbors. And after seeing too many families feel lost and taken advantage of during the chaos of water, fire or mold damage, he set out to build something different. Calm Waters Restoration was born from that mission, a fully certified restoration company that pairs technical excellence with empathy, human kindness, and the personal care you'd hope for from a friend. Today, we're proud to serve Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the extended Twin Cities area. Every project, big or small, gets the same promise: clear communication, careful craftsmanship, and leading with empathy and making our decisions on doing the right thing.
