Job description

Job Description: The Career Readiness Instructor will work closely with Restore Education career support team to assist career-training students in the organization’s workforce training program, to ensure that students are career ready in basic skills in reading, mathematics, and language. The CRI will also help provide workforce training support classes and tutoring to Restore Education students at the main learning center and online.
This position is full time, exempt, and is directly accountable to the Director of Student Success.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred Strong ability to instruct and tutor in Math and RLA at College and Career Readiness
Standards or university level.
Prior experience working with adult learners and knowledge of adult learner characteristics
Knowledge of essential office equipment, computers, and the internet
EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Highly Skilled in interpersonal relationships with students and adults in leadership, management, teaching.
Ability to present an image of professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Ability to develop rapport with students.
Knowledge of how to develop students’ motivation and how to build their self-efficacy
Knowledge of advising/counseling techniques and procedures.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, coordinate workload, handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information and data gathered from work with students.
Ability to deal with diverse situations and people.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and those contacted in the course of work.
Willingness to learn about career success core concepts and assist with the development of deliverables.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Director of Student Success in planning a program of study that meets the adult learners’ college level Math and RLA needs.
Use a variety of instructional methods and techniques in the classroom, including individual tutoring, to achieve required benchmarks and present material in an engaging and effective manner to meet the students’ needs.
Create CCRS Math and Reading lesson plans for HSE and workforce readiness that align with the
TX AEL Content Standards 2.0 for college-bound students.
Enter required student data such as contact information, case notes, or test results into a database.
Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
Use effective retention strategies such as relationship building, regular student contact, and goalsetting activities, etc. so that students persist in the program.
Ensure program outcomes (attendance, tests, and certifications) are achieved and tracked monthly.
Work with the Career success program manager and advisor as a team to promote students’ successful completion of class and program.
Willingness to learn and assist with career readiness material development
Attend a minimum of 15 hours of professional staff development every program year as required by agency contracts.
Function within the policies and administrative procedures of the organization in addition to state and federal laws.
Accomplish other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Success in a timely manner.
SCHEDULE: Monday – Thursday from 9am-6pm and Friday 9am-2pmSALARY AND BENEFITS: $45,000 – 55,000
Benefits: 100% employer-covered health, vision, and dental and employer-covered life, plus affordable auxiliary plans and generous PTO policy.
PROBATION PERIOD: 90 days
*This position is grant funded. Although the grant is expected to end, additional funding might be obtained to extend grant beyond the end date. If that would occur, your employment under the grant might also be extended. However, all employment is considered to be at will and may be terminated by you or the agency at any time regardless of the end date of the grant.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and walking to perform the essential functions.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Must possess a valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License or obtain a valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas.
