Job description

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. We are unique compared to other districts because of the wide variety of exciting and innovative educational options from which families and staff members can choose. In pursuit of this mission, we are expanding our team and hiring a TEAMS Skills Coach Lead. We are committed to creating innovative solutions and implementing effective programs that address school climate within the Lansing School District.

Qualifications
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience working in diverse communities and with various age groups.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of restorative practice principles and their application.
  • Extensive experience working with school age children.
  • Works independently and efficiently.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Creates and leads a team environment.
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology: Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
Sample Job Responsibilities
  • Participate in the interview, onboarding, and training process for new coordinators.
  • Facilitate high-level cases and other high-level restorative interventions such as suspension re-entry, formal conferencing, staff-staff conflicts, extreme violence or bullying, etc.
  • Facilitate restorative justice circles by managing the intake, agreement, and follow-up process with staff and students.
  • Facilitate preventative interventions such as classroom circles and focus groups.
  • Continued coordination with administration to support the referral process for restorative services.
  • Support facilitators with the integration of restorative approaches in schools and classrooms.
  • Provide restorative coaching and model interventions for staff.
  • Design positive skill-building lesson plans for preventive interventions.
  • Participate in and facilitate district-wide Professional Development Trainings.
  • Formulate bi-weekly data reports to discuss with the director.
  • Maintain case documentation for all interventions on.
  • Other duties as assigned.
