Position Summary
As a Contents Technician, you will assist with the inventory, packing, transportation, cleaning, restoration, storage, and return of customers' belongings following water, fire, mold, storm, and other property damage.
Working with an experienced restoration team, you'll safely handle and protect contents, prepare work areas, maintain organization, and help ensure each project is completed efficiently and professionally.
What You'll Do

  • Prepare vehicles, equipment, packing materials, and supplies for each project
  • Maintain clean and organized vehicles, equipment, work areas, and warehouse spaces
  • Prepare and protect work areas before contents handling begins
  • Inventory, document, pack, label, and protect customer belongings
  • Sort contents based on condition and required cleaning methods
  • Safely move, load, unload, and transport customer contents
  • Disassemble and reassemble furniture or larger items as needed
  • Clean and restore contents using SERVPRO-approved processes and products
  • Assist with pack-outs, contents cleaning, storage, and pack-backs
  • Communicate with supervisors and teammates about project needs or issues
  • Follow SERVPRO procedures and safety guidelines
  • Complete jobsite cleanup and properly store equipment and supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in restoration, cleaning, moving, packing, warehousing, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • IICRC certifications or willingness to obtain them
Experience is helpful but not required. We will train motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to:
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Move heavier furniture, equipment, and contents with assistance
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and climb throughout the workday
  • Load, unload, pack, clean, and move customer belongings
  • Work on ladders and in confined spaces when needed
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Safely operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment
Work Environment
Contents Technicians may work in homes, businesses, warehouses, and other properties affected by damage.
Working conditions may include:
  • Wet, hot, cold, dusty, or smoky environments
  • Exposure to mold, odors, cleaning products, and airborne particles
  • Loud equipment and machinery
  • Lifting and moving furniture, boxes, and customer belongings
  • Occasional after-hours, weekend, or on-call work
