Proximo - Immediate Hiring for Highly Skilled Waiter/Waitress

Join Proximo, a Spanish tapas and wine bar inspired by the lively tavernas of Spain, located in downtown Chapel Hill. As a Waiter/Waitress at Proximo, you will have the opportunity to work alongside talented professionals and gain valuable experience in the food and beverage industry.

Main Responsibilities of a Waiter/Waitress:

  • Taking orders and delivering food and beverages with accuracy, efficiency, and grace.
  • Salesmanship in a non-intrusive, anticipatory manner.
  • Providing exceptional guest experience.
  • Full knowledge of all menus and the ability to precisely explain all menu items to our guests.
  • Food running, bussing, restaurant opening and closing.
  • Maintaining immaculate work spaces.
  • Ensuring proper alcohol service by maintaining a working knowledge of NC state law.
  • Understanding our approach to hospitality

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting, seating, and escorting guests.
  • Providing menu recommendations and additional information.
  • Upselling additional products when appropriate.
  • Checking ID's to prevent minors from ordering alcoholic beverages.
  • Taking orders and communicating details to the kitchen staff.
  • Delivering food and beverages promptly.
  • Handling bill payments and transactions.
  • Maintaining table cleanliness and appearance.
  • Ensuring exceptional guest service.

Waiter/Waitress Job Requirements:

  • At least three years of experience as a full-service restaurant waiter/waitress.
  • Some experience with fine wine sales and service.
  • Knowledge of proper alcohol service.
  • Proficiency with Point of Sale software.
  • Ability to work on your feet for up to ten hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds overhead onto high shelves.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Próximo, a Spanish tapas and wine bar, is inspired by the tavernas and tapas bars of San Sebastian and Logrono, Spain. The casual, vibrant and dynamic feel of those restaurants felt just right for the cozy space on East Franklin Street.
Owned by Brandon and Elizabeth Sharp (who also have Hawthorne & Wood, a fine dining restaurant and bar, and Bluebird, a French bistro, both located in Chapel Hill), Proximo will be their first business in downtown Chapel Hill.
Proximo's General Manager is El Faust. Neal Benefield will oversee the restaurant as Director of Operations.
