Job description

As a Restaurant Host/Hostess for The Berkeley Boathouse at the DoubleTree Berkeley Marina Hotel, you would be responsible for welcoming guests and escorting them to their seats for dining in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

A Restaurant Hostess/Host would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  1. Welcome guests and ascertain their dining needs
  2. Seat guests and manage the seating chart
  3. Monitor restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow
  4. Perform opening and closing duties, as needed
  5. Assist others with side work including, but not limited to, cleaning, stocking, folding silverware, etc.
  6. Ensure knowledge of menu
  7. Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner
  8. Assist fellow associates wherever necessary to maintain positive working relationships
  9. Ability to work different shifts (incl. days/evenings/weekends/holidays)
  10. Ability to lift/push/pull 25-50lbs.
  11. Ability to work a complete shift (8 hours) with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Skills:

  1. Speak clearly and talk easily with all kinds of people to put them at ease.
  2. Use judgment and reasoning to cope with emergencies, such as sudden illness, accident, or interrupted service.
