What is a restaurant helper?

Restaurant helpers are support staff in restaurants who assist with a variety of tasks to ensure smooth operations. Their duties often include cleaning tables, setting up dining areas, assisting servers, washing dishes, and sometimes helping in the kitchen. They work under the supervision of chefs, servers, or restaurant managers and play a critical role in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient environment. Restaurant helpers typically do not require formal education, but on-the-job training is common. Their support allows other restaurant staff to focus on service and food preparation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a restaurant helper, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Restaurant Helper, you need basic food handling knowledge, physical stamina, and attention to cleanliness, often supported by a food handler’s permit. Job description

About Us

At Infinity Group Construction (IGC), we love what we do. Since 2003, we’ve been a 100% Canadian-owned and operated facility management company. We specialize in delivering high-quality, customized service solutions across Canada, with a strong presence in commercial plumbing, electrical, restaurant equipment maintenance, and water filtration.

We believe our team is the heart of our success. That’s why we provide a supportive work environment and hands-on training to help our technicians succeed in the field.

About the Role

We are currently hiring a full-time Restaurant Equipment Technician based in Saskatoon, SK. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing commercial food and beverage equipment at client locations across the region, with a focus on ovens and brewing/beverage equipment.

This is a hybrid position: alongside your equipment work, you'll also handle minor plumbing fixture repairs (faucets, drains, fixtures, small leaks) to fully support our customers' needs on-site. This reduces the need for a separate plumbing visit. Full training on the plumbing side is provided; a plumbing license is not required, but relevant hands-on experience is a strong asset.

This is a mobile, field-based position that involves daily driving throughout the region. The ideal candidate is comfortable with a dynamic, fluctuating schedule, can work independently, and brings a strong sense of professionalism to every site visit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform service repairs, maintenance, and basic installation of commercial ovens, brewing and beverage equipment, dishwashers, and water filtration systems

  • Perform minor plumbing fixture repairs and support at client sites as needed

  • Travel daily between client locations across the region (company vehicle provided)

  • Represent IGC with a clean, respectful, and professional presence at all times

  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas, especially in food service environments

  • Create accurate service records using digital tools

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams via phone, email, and digital platforms

  • Follow safety protocols and perform duties with attention to detail and efficiency

What We're Looking For
  • Valid Class 5 (BC) Driver's License and clean driving record (required)

  • Clean driver's abstract (required)

  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical/electrical aptitude

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Clear, respectful, and professional communication skills

  • Capable of lifting 50–100 lbs and managing the physical demands of the job

  • Reliable, punctual, and well-organized

  • Willingness to work non-fixed schedules. Shifts may vary day by day, and evening, weekend, and holiday work is often required

  • Basic to intermediate plumbing knowledge and hands-on experience with minor fixture repairs (required)

  • Moderate to high proficiency with mobile phones and digital work tools (required)

  • Clean criminal record (required)

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada (IGC does not sponsor work permits, visas, or immigration processes)

  • G2 Gas Technician License (considered an asset)

What We Offer
  • Company vehicle and fuel card

  • Paid training and onboarding support

  • Health and dental benefits available after probationary period

  • All necessary tools, equipment, and uniforms provided

  • A respectful, safety-focused work environment
