Job description

About Jerritt Canyon
The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.
The Opportunity
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and managing maintenance functions across Jerritt Canyon to establish the asset integrity, organizational capability, and maintenance systems required to safely and reliably restart operations.
Working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Technical Services, the Maintenance Manager supports restart decision-making through clear visibility of asset condition, readiness risks, cost estimates, and execution plans.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all maintenance readiness and restart activities across mobile equipment, fixed plant, and process infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership and direction to maintenance superintendents, supervisors, planners, and technical teams during restart planning and execution.
  • Develop and execute maintenance restart strategies focused on asset integrity, refurbishment, and safe recommissioning.
  • Direct asset condition assessments and develop detailed scopes, schedules, and budgets for refurbishment and readiness work.
  • Ensure effective maintenance planning and scheduling processes are established prior to restart.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs required to support commissioning and ramp-up.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive maintenance records to support compliance, tracking, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and readiness metrics, identifying risks and driving corrective action.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to secure critical spares, long-lead materials, and contractor support.
  • Manage maintenance restart and operating budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and variance management.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, refurbishments, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements during restart activities.
  • Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and governance to support long-term operational performance.
  • Provide regular reporting to site leadership on maintenance readiness, risks, costs, and schedules.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support overall site restart objectives.

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10-15+ years of progressive maintenance experience in mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance teams through shutdowns or restarts.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, asset refurbishment, and reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Experience with maintenance planning and CMMS systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, costs, and resource allocation.
  • Experience supporting mobile equipment and fixed plant maintenance functions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and operational readiness.
