Job description

Emergency Service / Fire Responder

Paul Davis provides professional residential and commercial emergency restoration services for disasters of all sizes. From water and flood damage, to fire damage and mold remediation, Paul Davis franchise professionals are available 24/7 to clean up and repair damage to residential and commercial property. Founded in 1966, Paul Davis is a rapidly growing network of more than 370 independently owned and operated franchises in the United States and Canada. Paul Davis will grow to become over a $2 Billion business in the next 5 years.

We are seeking a high-energy, dependable, and driven Emergency Service / Fire Responder to serve as the frontline face of Paul Davis Restoration. In this critical role, you will monitor and respond immediately to local fire notifications, arrive on-site to assist property owners during a time of crisis, and successfully secure the property to become our clients' trusted restoration contractor. Once the fire department clears the structure, you will also perform hands-on emergency stabilization, including structural board-ups and roof tarping. This role requires a unique blend of empathetic sales/relationship-building skills, urgency, and construction or mitigation experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Rapid response: Monitor active emergency dispatches and fire notifications to respond immediately, 24/7/365, to active fire scenes within our territory.
  • Client advocacy & sales: Compassionately engage with affected property owners, tenants, and first responders on-scene. Present Paul Davis Restoration's capabilities to position our franchise as the preferred restoration contractor.
  • Contract execution: Guide stressed property owners through the initial paperwork, securing signed work authorizations and work orders on-site.
  • Relationship management: Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with local fire departments, police, and emergency management personnel.
  • Structural board-up: Once first responders deem the structure safe to enter/work on, secure the property's perimeter by boarding up broken windows, doors, and damaged walls to prevent trespassing, theft, or further weather damage.
  • Roof tarping: Safely access and tarp damaged roofs to prevent subsequent water intrusion.
  • Site safety: Implement initial safety controls on-site (e.g., hazard taping, temporary fencing, basic structural stabilization checks) in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Documentation: Utilize industry-specific mobile applications to document property conditions with high-quality photos and detailed notes for the estimating team.

Skills and knowledge include:

  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Strategic thinking and planning
  • Project management and multitasking capability
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exemplary computer skills, i.e. Internet & Microsoft Office

Personal characteristics include:

  • Professional demeanor
  • Personable, presentable, articulate
  • Open, cooperative, enthusiastic
  • Self-directed with exceptional initiative

Qualifications include:

  • This is not an office job or a standard route sales role. This is a 24/7 emergency response position. You will actively respond to live fire dispatches, secure the contract with property owners in crisis, and then immediately throw up a ladder to board up the property and tarp the roof yourself. If you hate heights, ladders, or getting your hands dirty, please do not apply.
  • Franchise, restoration, construction/home improvement, and/or insurance industry experience a plus
  • Able to perform basic carpentry skills to secure a home
