JOB TITLE: Community Support Professional โ Respite

JOB STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Varies; hours may vary to accommodate needs of person served.
Summary:
Provide community-based respite support to individuals with extraordinary support needs. This role focuses on enhancing quality of life by promoting independence, community participation, and meaningful daily experiences while ensuring health, safety, and person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
โข Deliver respite services in alignment with each individualโs Individualized Support Plan (ISP)
โข Support individuals with daily living skills, personal care, and community integration
โข Foster independence, self-advocacy, and informed decision-making
โข Provide transportation to community activities, appointments, and services as needed
โข Monitor individual progress and communicate updates to the team
โข Complete accurate and timely documentation, including service notes and medication records
โข Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and community partners
โข Support individuals in leisure, recreational, and social activities
โข Provide crisis intervention and emergency support when necessary

โข Strong interpersonal and communication skills
โข Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism
โข Ability to work independently and as part of a team
โข Understanding of person-centered practices and advocacy
โข Ability to support individuals with diverse needs and abilities
Physical & Work Requirements:
โข Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
โข Ability to work every other weekend
โข Ability to provide personal care (e.g., toileting, bathing, feeding) with dignity and respect
โข Ability to safely assist with transfers and mobility support
โข Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
โข Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
โข May be required to provide support in other Community Living programs (e.g., Supported Living, In-Home Services) as needed
โข Valid driverโs license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
Certifications & Training Requirements:
โข CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification
โข Certified Restraint Training
โข Core A & B certification
โข Completion of required agency and regulatory trainings (e.g., Human Rights, Safety, Medication Administration)

Education/Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Experience in providing direct service to people with developmental disabilities or experience in a volunteer or teaching capacity with persons with developmental disabilities is desirable.
