Don’t miss this opportunity to join our Respiratory Care team! Black River Health has an immediate opening for a Sleep Lab Technician. The Sleep Lab Technician under the direction of the Respiratory Care Manager, performs various polysomnograms and other sleep disorder tests. Responsible for attaching electrodes and monitors to patients who are participating in a sleep study. Monitors the patient throughout the sleep study and documents observations, collects data from various monitors, and reports this information to the physician. Responsible for CPAP titration and oxygen therapy when applicable. Scores reports.

The positions available are:

  • Per Diem, 24 hours per pay period, Night shift (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - flexible), Non-Benefited

Essential Duties Include:

  • Reviews the patient's medical history, allergies, current medications, and patient questionnaire and explains procedures to the patient before, during, and after the sleep study.
  • Perform both in-lab studies and Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT).
  • Performs patient set-up for in-lab studies: attaches electrodes and monitors to patient according to accepted standards. Instruct the patient in the proper setup of HSAT.
  • Correctly interprets physiologic tracings and quickly decides to intervene regarding an emergency or potential for an emergency situation. Can troubleshoot problems encountered via phone with HSAT.

Educational Qualifications:

· High School graduate or equivalent

· Completion of a Sleep Lab training program

  • Certification/Registered (or working towards certification) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists

· Sleep Lab experience preferred

· Current BLS certification

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Basic Computer knowledge
