Utah Valley University invites experienced respiratory therapy professionals to contribute to the education and development of future healthcare practitioners in a supportive, student-focused learning environment. As an Adjunct Instructor in the Respiratory Therapy program, you will have the opportunity to share clinical expertise, guide students in developing critical skills, and help prepare graduates for success in a rapidly evolving healthcare field. This role is well-suited for professionals who are passionate about healthcare education and committed to mentoring the next generation of respiratory therapists. Summary of Responsibilities
- Design and teach courses in Respiratory Therapy.
- Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
- Prepares instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, mock-ups, visual aids, and instruction sheets) as necessary.
- Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms and laboratories using appropriate teaching methods.
- Evaluates instruction and learning by means of appropriate testing methods.
- Maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
- Recommends students for advancement and graduation.
- Maintains and submits accurate, up-to-date reports and records on student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
- Coordinates cooperative work experience programs and students as assigned.
- Assists counselors, department chairperson, and or program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
- Thoroughly familiar with the academic freedom and professional responsibility statement and adheres to these policies.
- Maintains safe, desirable laboratory and classroom conditions.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Graduated from a CoARC-accredited Bachelor's Degree Program in Respiratory Therapy
- Holds current, active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials
- Currently licensed as a Respiratory Therapy Practitioner in the State of Utah
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be taught, instructional strategies, and techniques.
- Extensive knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in instructional assessment, curriculum design, program development, and continuous program evaluation.
- Thorough knowledge of the appropriate field of study.
- Thorough knowledge of counseling and advising techniques.
- Effective human relations skills and communication techniques.
- Skill in public speaking and report writing.
- Ability to apply general principles effectively to specific conditions.
- Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with people.
