Job description

Resource Management Concepts, Inc. (RMC) delivers innovative management and technology solutions to government and commercial clients. We are seeking a Senior Ansible & Linux Automation Engineer to support Navy clients in the Carderock area of Bethesda, Maryland.

This is a 100% on-site position for an automation-focused engineer with strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) experience. The selected candidate will build, secure, and sustain automation capabilities supporting enterprise Linux operations, patching, configuration management, compliance, and vulnerability remediation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy, upgrade, administer, and optimize Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.x, including Automation Controller, Private Automation Hub, Execution Environments, inventories, projects, credentials, job templates, workflows, and RBAC.
  • Develop, test, and maintain reusable Ansible playbooks, roles, collections, templates, and workflows for Linux provisioning, configuration management, patching, compliance, and operations.
  • Build and manage custom Execution Environments using ansible-builder.
  • Create and maintain custom Ansible Collections and standardized automation content.
  • Migrate and modernize legacy Ansible Tower and AWX workflows to containerized AAP environments.
  • Integrate AAP with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, Git/GitLab, Red Hat Satellite, Splunk, Dynatrace, vulnerability-management platforms, and monitoring tools.
  • Establish automation standards, governance, documentation, testing, and Git-based content-management practices.
  • Provide Tier 3 engineering support for RHEL 8/9 systems across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Automate DISA STIG implementation, ACAS vulnerability remediation, patch management, system hardening, and configuration compliance.
  • Troubleshoot complex Linux performance, configuration, service, security, networking, storage, and operating-system issues.
  • Develop Python and Bash scripts supporting systems automation, integrations, diagnostics, and reporting.
  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience, including RHEL, CentOS, or comparable enterprise Linux platforms.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing AAP Automation Controller, Private Automation Hub, Execution Environments, workflows, inventories, templates, projects, credentials, and RBAC.
  • Experience developing complex Ansible playbooks, roles, custom Collections, and reusable automation content.
  • Experience creating Execution Environments using ansible-builder.
  • Strong Python and Bash scripting skills.
  • Experience automating DISA STIG compliance, Linux hardening, ACAS remediation, and vulnerability-management activities.
  • Experience supporting environments aligned to NIST SP 800-53 requirements.
  • Associate degree or higher in a technical or related field.
Required Certifications
  • Must possess an active DoD IAT Level III baseline certification. Acceptable certifications include CASP+ CE, CISA, CISSP, Associate of CISSP, GCED, GCIH, or CCSP.
  • Must possess a Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, or other container technologies.
  • Experience automating AWS, Azure, AWS GovCloud, or similar cloud environments.
  • Strong Git/GitLab knowledge, including version control, merge requests, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite and enterprise Linux patching or content-lifecycle management.
  • Experience integrating AAP with ITSM, CMDB, monitoring, vulnerability-management, and security platforms.
  • Experience supporting Navy, DoD, federal, or other highly regulated environments.

Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate’s specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements. The current salary range for this position will be $175,000 to $205,000 (annually).
