What is a resource development manager?

Resource Development Managers are professionals responsible for identifying, acquiring, and managing resources—such as funding, materials, partnerships, and talent—that support an organization's growth and operations. They often work in non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and some businesses, focusing on fundraising, grant writing, and relationship-building. Their role involves strategic planning, networking, and communication to ensure the organization has the resources it needs to achieve its mission and objectives.

How does a resource development manager typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Resource Development Managers frequently work cross-functionally, partnering with teams such as marketing, finance, and program management to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals. They often coordinate with program staff to understand funding needs and with communications teams to craft compelling donor materials. Building strong relationships across departments is key to ensuring that resource development initiatives are both effective and well-integrated, ultimately supporting the organization's mission.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a resource development manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Resource Development Manager, you need expertise in fundraising strategies, donor relations, and project management, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field. Familiarity with donor management software, CRM systems, and grant-writing platforms is typically required. Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills set top performers apart in this role. These abilities are crucial because they drive sustainable funding, foster strong donor partnerships, and ensure the success of organizational initiatives.

Job description

Arkansas Talent Group is looking for a Sales/Business Development Manager for it's client, a fast-growing fractional Accounting, Finance, and HR consulting firm that partners with businesses to provide experienced financial and operational leadership without the cost of building a full in-house team. Their clients range from growing small businesses to established organizations looking for strategic expertise in accounting, finance, payroll, HR, and operational support.

As they continue to grow, they're looking for a motivated Business Development Specialist who thrives on building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping businesses solve real problems.

Position Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven sales professional who enjoys networking, developing new business, and creating long-term client relationships. You'll work directly with company leadership to expand client base before ultimately taking ownership of much of the business development process.

We're looking for someone who is self-motivated, confident, and comfortable representing their company throughout the Central Arkansas business community. This person is expected to proactively create opportunities; not simply wait for referrals or attend networking events. If you've been successful in luxury sales, professional services, B2B sales, banking, commercial insurance, or another relationship-driven industry, we'd love to talk with you.

Responsibilities

· Identify and develop new business opportunities through networking, referrals, outreach, and relationship building

· Attend local networking events, Chamber of Commerce functions, ribbon cuttings, and other community events

· Build and maintain relationships with business owners, executives, CPAs, attorneys, bankers, and referral partners

· Manage sales opportunities and activities within HubSpot CRM

· Conduct discovery meetings to understand prospective clients' business needs

· Collaborate with leadership to develop customized service proposals

· Follow up consistently with prospects throughout the sales cycle

· Help refine and improve the company's sales processes as we continue to grow

· Eventually take ownership of proposal development and portions of the sales process. Initially, this person generates and nurtures opportunities while leadership handles final closing. Over time, they will assume more of the discovery, proposal, and closing process

Qualifications

Required:

· 2+ years of business development, outside sales, account management, or relationship-based sales experience

· Proven ability to generate new business and build long-term client relationships

· Excellent communication and presentation skills

· Strong organizational skills and follow-through

· Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision

· Professional presence and confidence interacting with business leaders

Preferred:

· Experience selling professional services, financial services, insurance, banking, consulting, or luxury products

· Existing professional network within the Central Arkansas business community

· Experience using a CRM system (HubSpot preferred)

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field

Compensation

· Base salary: $45,000–$50,000

· Uncapped commission plan, including:

o One-time commission equal to 25% of first month's recurring revenue from new client engagements

o 5% ongoing residual commission on recurring revenue from your clients

· Significant earning potential as you build a long-term client portfolio

Benefits

· Health insurance (company pays a portion of employee premiums)

· Dental insurance (employee-paid)

· Vision insurance (employee-paid)

· 401(k) with 3% company match after 90 days (company match fully vests after two years)

· Paid Time Off (10 days annually after successful completion of the 90-day introductory period)

· Hybrid work flexibility after onboarding, with regular in-person presence throughout Central Arkansas.

Why Join Us?

We're building long-term partnerships with our clients, and we believe relationships always come before transactions. You'll have the opportunity to help shape our growth strategy while working alongside experienced accounting, finance, and HR professionals who genuinely care about helping businesses succeed.

If you're entrepreneurial, relationship-driven, and excited by the opportunity to grow with an expanding professional services firm, we'd love to hear from you.

If interested in learning more about this opportunity, apply directly or reach out to Bailey Clark at bailey.clark@arkansastalentgroup.com. Arkansas candidates will take priority consideration.
