Harold Washington College (HWC), one of the City Colleges of Chicago, is located in the heart of Chicago's Loop and serves over 9,000 students in college credit and continuing education programs. HWC is a proud federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority-Serving Institution, dedicated to supporting a student body that is over 75 percent Black and Latine.
The Associate Dean - Transfer Focus, provides academic leadership and operational management for credit-bearing programs intended for transfer to four-year universities. Accountable for developing and administering instructional programs; faculty hiring and evaluation; budget development and oversight; managing the annual ICCB Program Review process; providing administrative support to the college's Assessment Committee; managing the academic side of the college's Dual Credit program; and strengthening the delivery of instruction and the quality of the learning environment to ensure student success. This position also plays a lead role in key grants and resource development for the college as related to completion and transfer.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: This position ensures quality instruction and assists in the enhancement and continuous improvement of educational programs by evaluating faculty.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Evaluates full-time and part-time faculty to ensure continuity of quality classroom instruction. Recommends enhancement, retention or non-retention. Provides written and verbal feedback on instructional quality according to Board/Union Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  2. Coordinates and directs the evaluation, review, and implementation of innovative curriculum additions and revisions. Reviews course outlines and syllabi and offers feedback and assistance.
  3. Assists the VP and Dean of Instruction in the tenure and post-tenure process.
  4. Assists with comprehensive orientation programs for full-time and part-time faculty.
  5. Works with the Office of Research to plan and conduct research.
  6. Represents the college to community organizations and agencies and participates on districtwide committees.
  7. Serves as weekend and/or evening administrator for the College.
  8. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
  9. Performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Supervision: Clerical Support Staff: Professional Support Staff
Indirect Supervision: Full-time Faculty: Part-time Faculty
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Completion of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years in leadership position in higher education setting.
  3. Training, participation and/or knowledge of higher education accreditation procedures, articulation process, assessment and program review.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and multiculturalism in one's work experience.
  5. Experience in union setting preferred.
  6. Demonstrated ability to create a learning environment that fosters student success.
  7. Demonstrated ability to develop a technologically integrated environment that fosters innovation within a learning organization.
  8. Demonstrated ability to resolve student complaints and recommend appropriate procedures for resolution. Preferred/ desirable qualifications:
  9. Experience working in a community college and instructional experience are highly preferred.
  10. Experience organizing or serving as a part of a self-study process (credit or occupational) are highly desirable.
  11. Experience with writing measurable student learning outcomes, creating appropriate syllabi, and participating in course- and program-level assessments.

Salary Range: $92,866.00 to $95,000.00
Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
