Water Resources Project Engineer - Woodbury, MN or Maple Grove, MN

The Water Resources Project Engineer will work closely with other water resources staff and project managers to perform water resources analysis and design activities primarily in support of municipal projects. The successful candidate will also assist in business development.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional services for water resources engineering projects to include planning, study, design, and construction administration
  • Perform analysis and planning related to floodplain and stormwater management facilities utilizing XP/InfoSWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, and other water resource engineering software
  • Provide review of stormwater management plans submitted to municipalities
  • Lead specific tasks of large projects or manage smaller projects and manage performance of assigned project team members including other Project Engineers, Engineers in Training, and Engineering Technicians
  • Maintain existing client relationships and pursue relationships with new clients
  • Assist the Water Resources Group Manager in identifying, evaluating, pursuing, and managing project opportunities
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
  • Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in water resources engineering
  • Demonstrated experience using SWMM software for urban stormwater management analysis & design
  • Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS software
  • Knowledge of Minnesota design standards and permitting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development
  • Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a water resources related field
  • Municipal or industrial wastewater treatment planning and design experience
  • Demonstrated experience using InfoSWMM software for urban stormwater management analysis and design
  • Project management experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Knowledge of project financials
Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
