What is a resort?

Resorts are commercial establishments that provide accommodation, entertainment, and recreational facilities for vacationers and travelers. They typically offer a combination of lodging, dining, sports, and leisure activities such as swimming, golfing, spa treatments, and organized tours. Resorts may be located in a variety of settings, such as beachfronts, mountains, or rural areas, and are designed to offer guests a relaxing and enjoyable experience all in one place. Many resorts cater to families, couples, or specific interest groups, and some operate on an all-inclusive basis where meals, activities, and amenities are included in the price.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a resort manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Resort Manager, you need strong leadership, hospitality management experience, and a relevant degree in hospitality or business administration. Familiarity with property management systems (PMS), booking software, and industry certifications like CHA (Certified Hotel Administrator) are often required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and customer service orientation set top candidates apart. These skills ensure seamless operations, guest satisfaction, and the overall success and profitability of the resort.

What are some typical challenges faced by staff working at a resort, and how can they be managed?

Staff at resorts often encounter challenges such as handling high guest volumes during peak seasons, maintaining excellent customer service under pressure, and adapting to guests from diverse cultural backgrounds. Successful resort employees manage these challenges by staying organized, communicating effectively with their team, and remaining flexible to changing schedules and guest needs. Continuous training and strong teamwork are essential to ensure smooth operations and high guest satisfaction.

  • A collaborative leader who is passionate about developing people, coaching future leaders, and creating an engaging workplace culture.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Why Join Us?

As part of PCH Hotels & Resorts, you'll join an award-winning hospitality company recognized for developing exceptional leaders and delivering Hospitality with Heart & Soul.

This is an opportunity to lead one of the signature experiences at a premier Marriott resort while working alongside an outstanding culinary and resort leadership team committed to innovation, excellence, and continuous growth.

  • Paid Holidays, PTO, and 401(k) with company match
  • Marriott hotel discounts worldwide plus dining, golf, spa, and retail discounts across PCH Hotels & Resorts
